I am trying to make a copy of a document. A band appears on the copy screen when I go to "Copy Preview" from the copy menu. This band also appears on the printed copy of the document. The band is about a half-inch wide and runs all of the way across the copy preview screen and accross the printed copy.
I've checked to see whether there could be any tape that should have been removed from the printer and couldn't find any.

Re: Band appears on copy screen and on printed copy.
I don't guarantee that these steps will solve your problem but I think it should work. This the provedure to reset your 2575 to factory defaults by following the steps below:
Turn off the power by pressing ON.
Unplug the power cord.
Wait five seconds, then plug in the power cord and turn on the power.
Try reading the photo card again.
If the unit fails to read the card, reset the unit:
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 above.
Press and hold # and 6 from the front panel keypad while plugging in the power cord.
For products that do not have # and 6, press Cancel and the Right Arrow.
Continue holding both buttons until the reset displays, and then release.

If you are putting a document into the printer and want to make a copy of it, press the key that says "copy" on the printers keyboard. Then choose the number of copies you want to make and press the "ok" or "enter" key on the keyboard of the printer.
If the document you wish to make a copy of is located in your computer and you dont have a copy of it to place in your printer - then you need to print the document. Not copy the document. Copy means make another one. You can't copy something that you dont have in your hands. Understand? To print a document that you dont have in your hands, find it on your computer. When you find the document you want to print on the computer, click on "file" in the upper left side corner of your computer screen and slide down to "print" and click on it. Then click on "ok" on the next screen to start printing your document.
If there is no "file" command in the upper left corner of your computer screen when you have the document that you want to print open on the computer - try right clicking with the button on the right side of your mouse in the center of the document and find the "print" command on the drop down list and click on it. Then click on "ok" on the next screen and this will start the printing of your document.
i would recommend you call a service technition on this problem.... it could be several things, the corona wires need replaced, the fixing assembly might need to be rebuilt, and or the drum might need cleaned and or replaced
As the page you wish to copy goes through the document feeder, it passes the scanner as well as a white plastic band that the scanner "compares" the dark writing or data on the page to. If this white plastic band is not very clean, the scanner reads the dirt as if it is part of the image you are scanning. Try cleaning the band as thoroughly as possible, as well as the small piece of glass to the left of the larger glass on the flat bed scanner. Make another copy to test your results.
