Question about Pioneer (DVR-K16) DVD RW Dual Layer Burner
Fancy IBM-Compaq nc6320 laptop has inbuilt Pioneer DVR-K16 DVDrw drive. Windows Media Player detects this drive and allows burning blanks so it all basically works. But pre-delivered SONIC burning software does not detect the drive. Neither does Adobe Audition 1.5 or Roxio (some version). HP helpdesk told me to reinstall entire PC which would cost me a week to get going again. There must be an easier way to get these standard packages (Roxio/Sonic) to detect the drive. I have no fear of editing the registry should that become necessary. Thanks for any help at all. Bas
I am asuming your using XP, this happened to me a few years ago, i searched google and found a forum that had instructions on editing a registry key to fix the problem but i wasn't able to see the drives in the device manager at all, so check that first and make sure they are there and try reinstalling the device drivers, using windows update or manually search for newest version of the drivers, if all that fails try reinstalling the applications your having issues with, if that fails you can try getting another application to replace the ones that aren't working, try alcohol 120% or Nero, those are about the best out especially a120 however it would require a purchase.
