Brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced.

It wouldn't do any good to try and have it serviced if there is a problem, BECAUSE, if you open it up you'll see it's made bu Orion, Wal-Marts cheapest brand and they don't support parts for this throw-away. The only thing Toshiba on this set is the name. Goes for Toshiba's up to 27" and some 32" sets.

Ah, had the same problem with my 27" combo. I called the tech. He reached into the VCR slot and took out a forgotten tape that was causing the problem. Sometimes they get wedged a little crooked and won't come out with the Eject button. Take out the tape, get rid of the premature shut off.

Ok, I just had the same problem for the second time. Hope this solution will help you. Way back months ago we put a VCR cleaner in the drive and that fixed it. We don't have one of those right now so I just put a regular tape in and it didn't want to take it at first, I held it in there and then let it come out and now the TV realizes that there is no tape in it so it doesn't turn off anymore. I have now taken a piece of clear packing tape and covered over the door to the VCR so that nobody will try to use it anymore. The problem is that the TV thought there was a tape in and that the tape was at the end of the reel so it wants to shut the TV down. I hope this helps you and would love to hear from you if it did. taylor777@verizon.net
Good luck with fixing it. Mine is still on as I type so it looks like a success.
