Please hook DVD player with TV and check TV still gives same green screen problem with dvd playback? If TV works fine then satellite box sounds bad and need to be confirmed by hooking it with another TV.
The Sony Bravia should have a number of component inputs, so you should be able to hook up the DVD directly to the TV. The only reason for hooking it up through the VCR would be to record a DVD on VHS... but that's for the birds--VHS is old technology.
Each component input on the back of the TV has a number. You then select to view the component you want by pressing the remote control button to change the display (it should show with one you're on... e.g., Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, etc.).
40X2000, both PS3 and DVD player are using a HDMI input and both flicker and loose signal fully, have to turn TV of then back on to get signal back. Sony say they have never heard this problem and replaced board. NOTHING fixed, still same problem.
I think it should be possible. As long as you don't exceed the resolution of the DVD player. It should work fine. Just keep DVD player in Rec / Pause mode then hit Rec button when you want to record a clip, then pause it again. That should work fine. Have a good night. Jay
Have you tried to hook up your DVD player directly to the surround sound system? If you direct the sound through the TV, it has to pass several circuits and the quality will be lover. Just connect it right away to your sound system. :-)
