Only 3 speakers work!

I docked my IPOD and only 1 front and 1 rear speaker worked. I reseated the IPOD and both front speakers and 1 rewar speaker work. No matter what I do, I can not seam to get the 4th speaker to work. Any suggestions before I return it and buy a Bose?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Fficarra. Yes, we've had a similar experience with the rear "speakers" on my wife's go + play. However, I'm not sure it's a problem. From what I can tell by looking through them under a bright light, & from reading a bit about H/K's "Slipstream port" technology, the matching speaker grills on the back of the unit  do not house separate speakers. That is, the unit's 2 woofers & 2 tweeters are under the grills on the front of the system (you can plainly see this by looking under those grills), & the grills on the back merely port some of the sound from the back of the speakers to the exterior. I think the left rear port (to the right channel/speaker) throws more sound than the right rear port (for the left channel) b/c there's some kind of dampening device (a plastic insert with slits cut in a diamond pattern) over the right rear port just under the grill. The port under the left rear grill is wide open, which allows for most of the bass coming off the back of the right channel's woofer to escape. Because the cones can travel as much as an inch back, the bass flying out of the right channel's front & rear grills actually creates a wind. If you listen closely, you'll hear that some sound does come out the other rear port but it's more muted. I'm calling Harman/Kardon's support line on Monday just to be sure. I'll post whatever I find out. In the meantime, hold back on your plan to return this for a Bose. I've compared Bose & H/K side by side & the H/K delivers a fuller range of the sound & clear, undistorted music at much higher volumes than the Bose is capable of reaching.

I took the bottom off my go play to have a look inside, the internal port is connected to one rear speaker grill and the other is blanked off, so no sound will come out of that one.

One of the rear bass ports on the go+play is a passive speaker. It does not give out any sound and this is why you dont hear any. It simply helps to boost the bass, similar to what you see on subwoofers with holes on the side.

Guys, I experienced the same. The front speakers worked and rear not. BUT please remember, that this was on batteries. As soon as I plugged in the normal electricity (adapter), all speakers, rear and front, worked like a charm.

It's impossible. All you have on rear side is phase inverter and plastic cover behind aluminium grill. Check this:http://i-lak.ru/image/data/akustika/gopl...

Have you made sure the dock is compatible with the iPod version you have? If you are having to move the iPod around, this may be because the dock isn't built for the iPod you own.

It could also be a technical fault that the dock is loose. Take it/send it back to the shop and explain your problem.

IPod Touch 4th Gen will dock. Will Charge. Can use remote control to play, and shuffle songs from iPod, but sounds will not come through speakers on Philips SBD8100 Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone

Hi Sniper326,
try cleaning the input socket of the Philips Speakers with a cotton bud, try cleaning the socket of the Ipod touch cable as well.

Have you tried using the IPod touch with different speakers? and does it work? if so the problem lies with your Philips speakers.

I hope this helps, good luck!

Don't how to connect iphone to ear speaker

moz-screenshot-12.pngmoz-screenshot-13.pngmoz-screenshot-14.pngmoz-screenshot-15.png honestytessy.jpgHow to Connect an iPod to a Speaker Bar

A speaker bar is a (usually portable) speaker system that includes a dock for an iPod. The unit is usually bar-shaped, with either a rectangular or cylindrical cross-section. Connecting an iPod to a speaker bar is usually as simple as plugging it in. Many speaker bars will also charge the iPod while it is connected. However some do not have an iPod dock, in which case the iPod must be connected by a 3.5mm audio cable.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* 3.5mm cable (for some speaker bars)

Turn the iPod on. Look to see if the speaker bar has a dock for the iPod. The dock will fit an iPod perfectly and will generally be located in the center of the speaker bar. There will be a connector that resembles the connector on the docking cable that came with the iPod. Place the iPod on the docking station and turn on the speaker bar. Such is the case with the "2.1 Channel Bar Speaker with Dock for iPod" or the "Yamaha YAS-71BL Front Surround Speaker System"

iPod headphones use a 3.5mm audio cable.

honestytessy_0.jpg

Connect the iPod via the 3.5mm cable. If the speaker bar does not have a docking station it will have a 3.5mm cable connector with a jack like the headphone jack on iPod ear pods. Plug the 3.5mm cable in the iPod headphone jack. Plug the other end in the iPod. Turn on the speaker bar. The procedure is straight forward and Apple specifically designed the headphone jack with third party stereos in mind.

Select a song on the iPod and play it. The speaker bar will play the music from the iPod.

Hope that helped..

have a nice day.

Works great , but Ipod dock only will give about half volume

All Ipod docks bypass the audio processor, so your volume and equalizer presets on the ipod will not work. Use the volume knob on the home theater unit itself.
