Question about Maytag MGR5880BDS Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Oven will not bake, but broil works

When I turn on my Maytag MGR 5880 BDS using the "bake" function, everything looks ok on the display, however the temp. never rises above 100. I've tried "bake" and "convect", and neither one work. "Clean" doesn't work either. The oven will lock, and display shows that it's heating up, but temp. never rises.

However....."broil" feature works just fine.

Please help.

Thank you

Hi. I have a Maytag CWE4200ACB wall mount oven that seems to have a circuit board/timer problem. When the oven is turned on and temp set you can hear (at the control panel) one click and the "on"...

Hi.

The clicking noise comes from the control board relays. The board has three relays. One for for bake. One for broil. One for light/fan auxiliary functions.

Try switching on only bake or broil. If one of the two elements (either bake or broil) gets hot, then the problem is either element or timer board. Make sure that the element has continuity at the Ohm meter.

If both bake and broil do not work test first the oven temperature sensor located inside the oven cavity. Make sure that impedance of the sensor at room is about 1.1KOhms . If sensor is open or shorted, replace the sensor. If sensor reading is OK test wiring and elements for continuity and eventually replace the control board if the rest is OK. Even if door switch should not affect regular programs, check the door switch reading impedance or jumping it.To test wiring test continuity of red and black lines. Check black line between power cord and relay board. Test with particular attention the oven temperature sensor, that is a common cause for your symptoms. Here the part:Long Oven Sensor Kit

Here a wiring diagram for your oven.

Here all parts and diagrams.

Regards.

Ginko.

When I turn on the broil function in the top oven, the bake igniter glows. I checked the voltage in the wires to the broil igniter and there is 0 volts. Is this a bad component on the ECB or can the ECB be...

This is probably a problem with the wiring outside of the control. To confirm this, check for continuity on the bake and broil relays upon activation of the broil function. If the the broil relay activates and the bake relay does not then your problem lies outside off the control board. I am familiar with troubleshooting Maytag appliances as I work for a company that repairs appliance timers.

My sister has a Maytag Advanced cooking system - MGR 5880 BDS - they used the self clean last night and now today the door will not come unlocked and a error F9 is showing on the display. How can they fix...

The F9 code indicates that you have a problem with the door lock circuit in this type of range. It is possible that you have a wiring failure in the door lock circuit. I recommend that you unplug the range and check the wiring connections on the door lock switches. I provided a wiring diagram in the image below. If you find no wiring problems, then you could normally try to fix this problem by replacing the door lock assembly.

The oven doesn't turn on in the bake cycle

oven doesn't come in broil but the broil should . the bake should in bake . but if it does work in self clean then your oven is ok and its the clock ( erc) that has failed . some times there is a code in the display stating the problem. but ist loks like a clock failure . **** ..

If all your connections are solid then your controller is defective. Did you get any faults before changing the element? Does the broil (one at the top of the oven) work?
