Uniden bearcat (BC80XLT) handheld replacement frequencies

Hey Bearcat;

I got your email address from FIXYA, when i was trying to find the betty bearcat starter frequencies guide for which mine was burned up in a storage a few years back, and just a couple days ago i had let a friend listen to my (BC80XLT), (big mistake) and someone else that they knew had erased all my frequencies that i had obtained over the years, and it blew me away that to reprogram them again could be so over whelming, radio shack doesnt carry the programming guides anymore, so here i am emailing you, i would really appreciate any time and energy you have in regards to replacing frequencies and my owners manual was also in the fire and its been a while since i had programmed the first time so i might need assist in how to input them again, let me know,Thanx Kristen (email) [email protected]

My uniden bearcat 50 channel 800mhz stop the police, fire ect.. and only gives me weather.. why? can you help ?

  • You can try pressing "Manual" and then "Scan" or "Band" buttons from the weather setting to get you back to scanning the police, fire, etc.
  • Make sure you don't have a WX (Weather) frequency programmed into on of the regular 50 channels or the scanner will continue to stop every time around as it will pick up the WX frequency.
  • Make sure you have your scanner programmed as well.

I recieved my fathers Uniden Bearcat BC80XLT after he passed away and I cant seem to be able to figure out how to re-program it for my area. I have the local scanner codes and need a little assistance...

Yours is a fairly simple one to program, and the best instructions are in the factory manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here:
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC80XLTom.pdf

BTW, they're frequencies, not codes, and you can find a great database for your area at:

Where can I get a Betty Bearcat Starter Frequency Guide

Don't spend money on a document that's typically outdated before it's printed. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, and a lot of other useful scanning information, visit:

Betty bearcat used to put out a "Betty bearcat frequency book." Is this public information still available??

Even if it was available, the information would be obsolete and outdated before the book was published. For a comprehensive and CURRENT database of active frequencies and systems in your area, along with a lot of other useful scanning info, visit:

I am having trouble clearing out old frequences in my bc80xlt uniden bearcat 50 channel scanner. Any sugestions?

hi marie , follow these instructions carfully ,

1. Place the scanner on it's back on a hard surface with it turned "OFF".
2. Press down and hold down the following keys with your left hand. (MANUAL), (2) and (9)
3. While holding down these buttons, use your other hand to turn the scanner power "ON". Continue to hold all the buttons down until you hear a "click" and all the channels are cleared to 000.0000.

hope thats a fix ya .
