How to change a 3 prong to a four prong on a mde4000 Maytag Neptu

How do I change a 3 prong to a four prong on a mde4000 Maytage Neptune Dryer. The dryer does not have a red prong. I am hearing going red to red, but what if it doesn't have it? What colors do I connect if I have a new prong that has 4 (white, green, black, and red). The Dryer has white, black and blue.

Dryer will not turn on

Yes. I did the same thing. It cost me a new timer and circuit board. However, I got my replacement parts from a local used appliance dealer, so I paid " not much".
If you decide to do the same, find your replacement part numbers on "Sears Parts" by your model number, and then type the part numbers into e-bay where you can get good deals.
I do often. Be blessed.

4 prong power cord to a 3 prong monunt I'm trying to replace a 3prong cord with a 4 prong but there is an extra wire, what do I do with it?

Dryers come with a wire or metal strap connecting the center "neutral" terminal to the frame of the dryer. When using a four wire power cord, take that wire or strap off the frame. (it can be discarded or better yet, in case this dryer needs to ever be converted back to a three wire cord) connect the frame end of the wire / strap to the center terminal of the power block. Now, Green (ground) wire goes to the dryer frame, White (neutral) goes to the center terminal, and the Red and Black (both "hot") wires go to either outside terminal. (one to each)

Switching the cord on maytag neptune dryer

dre, sounds like you moved and the dryer electrical outlet is only 3 pronged, This tells me that the dryer will be grounded through the neutral leg. Just hook up the cord and you should be fine. Make sure the white is in the center. Catriver.
