2004 Ford Explorer not starting

All lights work, inside and out. dash, radio, everything except the car turning on. Is there a reset button for the alarm? It seems like it has to do with the alarm system.

We changed the battery terminals on the truck and now i will not start. everything is on but it will not even crank. we looked at the fuses and everything is fine there and all the cables seem, to still be attached to the starter.

if it is a factory alarm no reset, consult your owners manual for more info.

Is the engine turning over? When you turn the key to the on position, does it behave normally? IE, do the battery and airbag and other lights come on when you turn the key to on position?

It happened to me and after I had two mechanics look at it, my husband used his key to start it. From that point on my key worked ok.

How do I bypass anti theft on 2004 Ford explorer

There is no reset button on an OEM system. Instead of trying to disarm the anti-theft, arm it, then start the car. Press the "Lock" button on the key fob, put the key in the ignition and see if that works.

Does all. Factory anti theift systems on a 2004 ford explorer. Have a valet reset button under stirring column.

There are no reset buttons for a factory security system.

I would start buy checking for fuel pressure and spark. There will be a test port for fuel pressure on the fuel rail. you should see around 35 psi. If there is none than check for power to the fuel pump. I suspect you will find a fuel issue.

O5 ford explorer radio wont turn up

we have a 98 with the same problem. Once in a while it suddenly will work, but the dash lights for the radio haven't worked in forever..haha...GOOD luck, I understand it is a chip that needs replacement and is a common problem with the Explorers.

Battery light flashing

The battery light on, is an indication of alternator failure. If your battery is more than 3 years old it needs replacement . A bad battery can damage a new alternator (full field condition). The age of your truck warrants inspection of the charging system. It requires at Least 20 amps output, from the alternator to run the engine.

2004 Ford Explorer won't start after battery recharge

A FORD MACHANIC HAS TOLD ME THAT IN FACT THE KEY HAS TO BE RECODED. MY SITUATION IS EXACTLY THE SAME. HE SAID TO RECODE THE KEY I HAD TO TURN THE IGNITION TO THE RUN POSITION, THE SECURITY LIGHT ON THE DASH WILL FLASH RAPIDLY AND CONTINUE TO FLASH FOR 15 MINUTES . WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE LIGHT STOPS FLASHING I MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION FOR ONE SECOND AND TURN IMMEDIATLY BACK TO THE RUN POSITION FOR 15 MORE MINUTES. THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF AGAIN . WITHIN 5 MIN. I MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION FOR ONE SECOND AND TURN BACK TU RUNNING POSITION. 15 MINUTES LATER REPEAT STEPS AGAIN AND THE KEY WILL BE REPROGRAMMED, AND STSRT THE CAR. GOOD LUCK MY CONTACT IS A FORD MASTER MECHANIC.

HI..
If you check the connection of the battery .
if you hear a cliking noise. and lights inside weak.
Is mean the battery is descharged or not good.
Try giving jumpstart cables. or with other battery.
Really I guess is a battery problem.
If the vehicle start. check if the Alternator is Charging.

I hope this could be a good point to start your diagnostic.

I hope work for you.
