Cannot get disk door to open

Have tried everything in the book, battery removal and so on. Door will not open, unit will not turn off by itself. Only way to stop is to disconnect battery.

move your recorder close to your PC then connect the recorders DVD drive to your PC turn one the PC and eject the disk remove the draw front then retest it. if this doesn't work The machine may have a mechanical issue in the door mechanism that you cannot fix yourself. You will need to take it to a service technician. Don't try to pry the door open. Doing so will void any warranty and also possibly expose you to dangerous laser emissions.good luck happy holiday

When u press the door button the signal is sent to a circuit board that sends the signal to open the door, the switch is just a ground signal, this circuit board is defective, if the unit is old u might contemplate replacing it, the repair cost will be very high, most likely $100's.

Hello derjuice

You need to take off the outer panel and then manually open the door by moving the mechanisms once the outer panel is off. Sounds like the main circuit board may be fried. Does anything work on it still?

Something not latching is usually spring related. If you feel like taking it apart you can probably find out what is keeping it from latching.

Disc door won't open. I have tried to remove the battery and power source but the door still isn't opening

I have heard of this only a few months ago, it was the way the camera door can get fouled up by a wonky disk not stopping at the right place.
Try to shoot a few seconds of extra movie, then try to open the door again.
If that does not help press the reset button for 30 seconds to open the door (see handbook) on doing that.

Message says door open when it is closed

if there is a sensor that detects the door then it probably needs to be replaced
if it is a switch that detects the door the switch will need to be inspected
it will need to be tested to determine the exact cause of the malfunction
there is an electronic circut not detecting the door

Cassette stuck

If battery is fully charged and unit still will not open, try removing the tape door and see if there is tape wrapped around capstan or ther parts. If you cannot find anything apparent, take unit to qualified pro tech

Tape cassette door won't open

Try removing all batteries from unit for 24 hours, then try to power it up in OFF position. If you still get error code, unit has mechanism or power problems. Striking the unit will not make it work either

Yes. First, try removing the camcorder battery, then turn on the switch on the front to either camera, or player modes.
let alone for 1 minute, then turn switch to OFF or the center position, install battery ( or the Sony supplied power converter) then let the camera try to open the door. DO NOT TRY TO FORCE THE DOOR OPEN. You will kill te camera's functions for all time. Then you can sell it on ebay for parts!

Second, get a set of miniture screwdrivers, get a place where you have much light, and a place to keep the miniture screws you will be removing from the case.

Remove all obvios black screws. The best place to start is from the battery area then the bottom, then sides and finally and CAREFULLY remove the nose cover for the camera lens. Work in a warm room, as plastic will have less chance of fracturing in such an environment.

Afer all screws are removed ( just the ones on the outside mind you, carefully work the nose piece off by gently pulling anti-clockwise, the view being looking down from above to the top of the camera. Ease... this nose cone off. the door then will be a cinch, as you gently pull from the bottom of the door and it snaps off from the bottom, then it unhooks from the inside top. Again, you must use extreme care. Good luck.

Cassette jam

I had this problem, and here is how it was resolved.

My cassette would not pop out when I opened the door with the camera turned on. When I turned off the camera and opened the door, it slid out much further, but still failed to pop open so that I could remove the tape. Then it slid back in.

Remove the battery, and have the camera off, but make sure the power cord is connected. Open the door until the tape slides out further than at other times. (Note: It intermittently slides out further when the camera is off. Sometimes it will not slide out any further than when it is on.) When the tape is slid out as far as it will go, quickly remove the power cord. The tape will stay in the slid-out position. Now, at the bottom side of the tape door there is a curved channel for a small pin to slide in. This channel has a 90% curve at the bottom of the channel to catch the pin, which holds the door closed. Push that pin back a little (toward the lense) to get it to go around that 90% curve, and the door will pop open so you can remove your tape. The ribbon of your tape will be jammed in the camera a little, so you will have to be careful and move the ribbon around a little until you can get it out freely.

This worked for me twice. I did not try putting a tape in again.

I hope this helps.
