Question about Frigidaire GLER331A Electric Dryer

Screeching sound when dryer is running

We do not see how to get at the drum to look at the bearing. The back does not appear to come off. Any ideas on how to look inside. Elecrolux GLER331A

This is a bit of a job. The dryer needs to be in the open. The top swings up by pushing a flat blade screwdriver in the seam between the top and the front panels about two inches from the sides to release the latches. With the top up and supported, Remove the two screws that hold the front panel to the side panels. These are inside the cabinet and near the top of the front panel. Disconnect the door switch wiring and remove the front panel. This is when you find all that lent that the filter missed. Remove the small louvered panel on the back near the bottom of the left side and reach inside and disengage the belt from the motor and idler pulleys. Remove the three phillips screws arraigned in a trangle on the back of the drum near the hub inside the dryer. Remove the small plastic spacer? located in the center of the cabinet where the top and front panels come together. I never could figure out what that thing was for. Now the drum will come out the front of the dryer. Go slow as to not mash or cut a finger. The rear bearing is now accessible for lubrication or replacement. It's not that hard, it just takes a while. Good luck.

My dryer is a model number GLER341AS2 and when I turn it on it makes a sreeching noise. Now the screeching has turned into a louder noise almost like a rubbing thud.

The symptoms you describe indicate that your dryer drum bearings are faulty: there is usually a large 'felt' bearing around the opening which support the drum and prevent metal to metal contact (screeching noises)- The drum must be removed to get to this front bearing (which is normally glue to the dryer front panel at the drum opening): it is not a trivial job and is not normally replaceable by end-users.

Hope the explanation helps.

My Frigidaire is Screeching. How can I make it stop? I have tried to grease the idler assemble and that is it.

If the dryer is constantly screeching it could either be the belt (if it's stretched) which would be slipping from not grabbing the drum tightly or the drum bearings could be going bad. I would start with the replacing the belt as you do not need to pull the drum out for that, for the bearings you do because they are screwed into the back of the drum.

My dryer makes a loud screeching noise coming from the fan at the end of the motor, any ideas

the belt runs off the drum with a tensioner attached. It sounds like the bearing in the pulley is locked up causing the noise

Screeching noise when running the dryer.

Most likely source is the idler pulley. Secondly, is the drum support roller closest to the motor. If the screech is a slower frequency it's likely the roller because the support roller travels at slower speed than idler pulley. Both are replaced by raising top and removing front. Caution: Pull plug before starting and draw diagram of how the belt travels around the idler roller. You will need it to get this back on properly.

LG DLE7177WM began making loud RuMbLiNg sound.

I have the same problem; pulled it apart and discovered the drum was cracked at the seam where it was welded. the noise occurs as it passes over the wheels the drum rests on. called LG's Cusomer Diservice and nobody was interested. found the same problems by others while searching myself so its clearly a manufacturing problem.

ED55 dryer making screeching noises

sounds like the rear tub bearing has worn out that would explain the noise and if it got too bad the bearing can break causing the drum to stick and not be able to turn
