My brother got a DS from his friend seeminly good condition but when we try to play a game on it it wont work. We put the game in and start the DS normally (start up is set to manual) it then goes to the nintendo screen where we then press A (of course) but then where it should say the name of the game inside the slot it says there is no DS card inserted...
ive been working on this problem for my brother for about 5 hours already. If anyone has a tested solution that works if would be VERY much appreciated if you could tell me.

Re: Ds wont read The games
Some times the spring that pushes the game back up into place after you push it down to lock the game in gets wore out. if the game doesn't come all the way back up it won't read them. You can take your fingernail on the grove on the back of the game and push up slightly to pull the game up into place. if this does not work then my suggestion would be to send it to me and I'll fix it for you. I have been repairing these consoles for a while now and have run into this problem several times. I have been able to successfully repair all of the misread errors. if you need anything please feel free to contact me. email@example.com

have you tried updating the firmware on the DS? It maybe because of that , that it wont play newer games? You will need to connect the DS via wifi to your home network the same way your laptop etc connects to it and then go into the DS settings menu and choose system update. Make sure the DS is fully charged and connected to a mains charger BEFORE updating. See if that solves your problem for you
If you are inserting a DS card, be sure there are no foreign articles inside the slot. Blow into the DS card slot to clear any debris. Also be sure you are inserting the card all the way in until it clicks. I've also found that if you're powering on a game, and you bump, grasp or touch the ds card as the DS is powering on, that can cause it to not read games.
Check the actual DS card itself and carefully look at the exposed contacts on the circuit board. Be sure none of them are scratched, damaged or otherwise. A scratch can damage a contact, thus preventing proper data read.
If anything was spilled onto the DS card, be sure it is thoroughly cleaned with a damp cloth (no cleeaning chemicals!) If you immerse the DS card, or pour liquids on it, that may damage it as well.
Same points hold true for inserting a Gameboy Advance game (if you have a DS or a DS Lite. The DSi and DSiXL do not have Gameboy Advance slots.
If you turn on the DS and nothing happens, try a different DS Card. If it only happens with that one particular game (or games) your DS cards are damaged or need cleaning. If all your games are not playing, there is a problem with your DS. Try your games in a friend's DS just to make sure. You'll probably have to send the unit to Nintendo for repair, or take it to an authorized repair center.
my son's DS had the same problem this week. With the DS turned off, ,I pushed the game in and held it right down while turning the DS on. The game registered and I let go of the game and it clicked in to place. The next time I tried the game it registered straight away. Good luck!
where did you buy it ? i just bought one from china site beltal and have the same problem it cant read any data its not the games as they all work in another ds. the company wont change it they are saying i didnt buy from them and that there is no warrenty , i put the code into nintendo and it does not reconize it, i belive i bought a fake.
First, it depends on what game it is, NOT ALL GAMES have a DS Download feature.
If you are using a game with the DS Download feature, have the host DS set up the game, this would just be going through the multiplayer then DS Download function.
Next, make sure you both are in the same area (10 or so feet), basically if you can be in the DS Chat with your Local Wireless Connection, you can use your DS Download feature.
While the host DS is sending the signal, the other DS will have a feature in the main DS menu (If you have auto-start on, hold start while starting up the DS and going past the warning screen), it will be called DS Download Play.
Have the person receiving the signal click that option and their DS will search for any games being sent in the general area. Then all the person with the receiving DS has to do is click the icon and he/she will connect with the hosting DS.
The receiving DS will not keep the game on the hardrive on the DS, but he/she will be able to play with you; your best bet however is to get a second cartridge, but that part is your call.
