I have an Acer Aspire One and it won't go on Standby 90% of the time. If I leave my laptop on without touching anything for 3-4 minutes the screen goes black and it won't go back to normal, no matter what button I press. When I close the laptop it atomatically supposed to go on standby, it only does this 5% of the time. The power lite stays GREEN when it supposed to go to an ORANGE color. Can someone please help me??? :(

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. I have an acer aspire z5600-U2092 all in one pc desktop, but my problem was when i bring it home here in the philippines on the first week i can still use it but it happens on the next day when i want to...

SYSTEM RESTORE Windows XP

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch On until you get the Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

I have an Acer Aspire x1200. Compact "tower". The DVD tray won't open and there is no hole to poke a paperclip into. Is there something else available to me to try? Thanks.

Have you tried right-clicking on the CD icon in the "computer" or "my computer" window? There is an "eject" option there.
If that doesn't work, I would suggest replacing the DVD.

My acer computer will turn on but wont come out of hibination mode

Some laptops have issues with Windows XPs hibernation mode. To get the computer back up again you should just hold the power button down until it shuts off completely. Some laptops won’t shut off even if you do this. When this happens you have to take the battery out to get it to turn off. Make sure it is not plugged into the wall when you do this otherwise it wont work.

Once you get the computer back running again you may want to disable hibernation if it seems like its going to keep happening. Go to Start, Settings Control Panel or Start, Control Panel and go to the Power Options icon. Change the hibernation section to never. You may want to try standby as an alternative. Standby saves all your running applications and documents into RAM while hibernate saves them to the hard drive. Hibernate uses less power from your battery, but it will take you considerably longer to get the computer back up. If you always plug the computer in then you may want to disable standby and hibernate since you really dint need them while plugged in.

Let me know if this works.
