Same exact problem! Sorry I'm no help > My Sansa e250 has been working fine for about a year. No problems, I can charge and sync it. > Now all of a sudden I have a problem. > My PC does not see the Sansa. Why? > I enter recovery mode. I see: > Welcome to "Recovery mode" Please connect USB Cable. > I connect the usb cable AND NOTHING HAPPENS! > Yes I read all about recovery mode on the internet. I tried it in both MSC mode and MTP mode. > How can I get my computer to see the sansa? > If my PC can not detect the Sansa then I cant get a firmware update now can I?

you can easily download the software by visiting the samsung website - www.samsung.co.uk and going to their support/download page.
The most common faults with this player are
1. The touchpad fails
2. The USB part of the device fails.
These are hardware faults and cannot be rectified other than replacing 1. the touchpad and with 2. the whole unit.
Makje sure you have loaded the software correctly first of all and have restarted your computer.
If you cannot see the player in windows explorer then most likely it is the usb hardware problem.

I had the same problem, I went to the phillips support site for this player and had to literally uninstall and reinstall windows media player 10. Also, make sure that the plugin is installed and not just the device manager software. ( Go to control panel, and then add and remove programs - and look to see that you have BOTH the device manager and the plugin installed.) if you need to install the plugin it can be found at this link:
