Install Norton version 2.0

My Norton 360 expired a few days ago and I am trying to install Norton 360 2.0 which I bought on-line from Norton on 28th November. I have cancelled Norton 360 from the computer, but everytime I go through the motions of installing version 2.0, it finishes up by re-installing the original 360 advising me I have 0 days left on my subscription. It is driving me mad. I have to advise that I am not computer-literate, am 70 years old. Can do e-mails and Google and that is it! I just want version 2.0 installed which has cost me £65.97. Please please help. Thanks in advance, Arianna Klein-Arfman.e-mail: handa.kleinarfman@btinternet.com

Hello handa_kleina

Here's what you need to do to remove the old one.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and scroll down until you find Norton 360

Click on it and then a change/remove button should appear (click on this button) and it should let you remove it from here for good.

Let me know if you have problems or questions with doing this. After this is done, you can then install the new Norton and everything should work normally.

To start installation from the download:

1. Most web browsers will automatically attempt to open the installer file as part of the download process

2. If your browser does not open the file automatically, locate the downloaded file and double click it

3. Read through the license agreement and click Agree to continue.

To start installation from the Security Software Starter CD-Rom

1. Place the CD in the CD-Rom drive and wait for the disk to mount.

2. When the Security Starter icon appears on the desktop, double click it.

Installation is identical from this point on for both download and CD-Rom

1. Open the Norton Personal Firewall folder

2. Open the NPF for OSX folder

3. Double-click Install Personal Firewall.mpkg

4. On some systems, the installer will need to run a program to determine if installation can continue. Click Continue.

5. On the Welcome to Norton Personal Firewall Installer window, click Continue

6. Read the Important Information. Click Continue to proceed.

7. Read the Software License Agreement. Click Continue.

8. You must AGREE with the license terms to continue installation.

9. Select a destination volume where the software should install. Click Continue to proceed.

10. Click Install or Upgrade to perform a standard installation.

11. When prompted to Authenticate, enter your username and password. Click Ok to continue.

12.
You are given a warning that installing the software requires a restart. Click Continue Installation.

13. Once all files are installed, you will be asked if you want to run LiveUpdate. Click Yes.
Note: LiveUpdate requires a connection to the Internet.
14. After LiveUpdate has finished, click Restart to complete the installation.

Running the Norton Personal Firewall Setup Assistant

1. The first time Norton Personal Firewall runs, it will launch the Setup Assistant to help you configure the firewall. Click Continue.

2. Setup Assistant checks for any internet services running on your computer. It displays what it has found in the Access Settings window. If any services were found, you should review them carefully and only allow the ones you are sure you need.

3.
If any services are found and you choose to allow them, Setup Assistant will ask you how much access to allow. Choose Only computers on my local network or The entire Internet and click Continue.

4.
Using the slider, choose a protection level. The default, Medium, is usually sufficient. Click Continue.

5.
Choose whether you wish to participate in Symantec DeepSight by clicking the check box. You can also view the DeepSight privacy policy statement here by clicking the Read the Symantec DeepSight Pricacy Policy button. Click Continue.

6.
Setup Assistant is finished. Click Done.

The firewall will now run whenever you start your computer.

Renewal free norton Antirus 2010.

If you only need the anti-virus component of Norton 360 (it also includes an email filter and some other components) then I would recommend a newly-available free antivirus program, see the instructions for installation here:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r5317428-actually_free_antivirus_software_windows

However, if you do need the other components of Norton 360 I would choose another paid software. You can either go online to Norton's website and download the newest version of Norton 360 here:
http://antivirus.norton.com/content/en/us/home_homeoffice/html/paid/seo02252010/SEO_Static_Option_3_Col_Radio_02252010.html?om_sem_cid=hho_sem_sy:us:ggl:en:e|kw0000004480|5995564156&om_sem_site={adcopy}
When the program tells you that it has expired five days ago there is likely a link in this window for a website at which you can renew your subscription. This is likely a cheaper alternative to buying an entire new version of Norton 360 and will do the same thing, so try following this link and paying to increase your subscription if you want the suite of security software.

Your computer will now be secured from threats again!

do not mind me asking, but is your copy genuine????
Coz if its not, u will not be able to activate it via internet.

And if u have bought it from a genuine source than try re-establishing your internet connection.
Close all background applications(torrents, downloaders .. etc), and then try to connect to the server.
it should work.

I'm trying to install Norton 360. It says it's detected the old 60 day trial, and removes it, then asks for a restart. When it boots back up, it says the same thing again, and I've restarted 7 times now....

Go to Control Panel > add/remove programs and uninstall Norton 360 from there.
After uninstall is complete then proceed with restart and then install the new version.
In case you are unable to remove the software via add/remove programs then reinstall the old expired version (this will repair the old installation). Restart then uninstall via the method given above i.e. through add/remove programs.
This software is a problem when uninstalling..you are not alone.

Replacing new security protection

Yes.

The best way to do so is to download the Norton Removal Tool.

Here's a link:

Select the version (year) you have.

Save it to your desktop. When the download is complete, run (doubleclick) the program on your desktop.

Then install the new software.

Ive got norton all ready on my pc it has got 6 days left on it can install a new one now or do have to wait till it has run out

First, its a trial, meaning that if you want to continue using norton AFTER the trial time is over (6days according to what you said), then you must buy the full version from their website.
Wait until it expires, and then purchase it from their website so you can keep using it forever.
Though even if you uninstall it and re-install it after it expires, it still would be expired until you purchase it.

Cheers ;)
