Question about Samsung HP-P4271 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

2 Answers

Blue tint Hi.. I own a Samsung PS-42C7HD plasma tv (about 4 mths old) and last week i noticed a blue tint in the left hand corner of the screen. It comes and goes at times but is very noticable during bright scenes of a program or film. I have a home theatre set up and the speakers are magnetically shielded so i've ruled that out. Any ideas to what could have caused this as it is only 4 mths old? Thanks Phil

Re: blue tint

I had this problem as well. I tried adjusting the voltage, but it only caused different color problems.

If you using HDMI, try checking your HDMI connection. I found that by I could simply "jiggle" (yes, that the technical term..he he) the HDMI cable around - while the cable was fully/completely attached to the TV - until I found a position where the color issues went away.

Now, the only problem is that I have to go and "adjust" the HDMI cable from time to time as the cable seems to shift over time. I'm thinking there is a problem with the HDMI input board on my tv (42" plasma - HP-S4253). But, since I'm over 3 months out of warranty, I'm not about to shell out big bucks for a new board. I can live with adjusting the cable from time to time.

Re: blue tint

This is usually caused by an over voltage on one of the panel voltages, if you open up the set and look at the panel you will find a sticker with the panel voltages on it, if you adjust the VS voltage down about 10 volts it will go away, if it doesn't the adjust the Vscan voltage down about 5-10 volt

My hps42x53 samsung plasma has a blue tint in the top left corner now they only come on when the tv has been on for oh say an hour?Whats going on?

Do you have any speakers other than factory positioned near that corner? Move them away and see if the magnetics are affecting it. If not, something is overheating, try positioning a fan to blow behind the tv for 10 minutes or so when its showing the blue tint to see if it goes away. If it does you need to clean the tv out or move it to a better ventilated area. If it doesn't you may have a blown buffer. Is it showing tint even in the slightest anywhere else on the tv? I can tell you which buffer or board is the culprit if you can narrow down the locations of the anomalies.

50 " Samsung Plasma TV

Get the tech supplier to tell to the manufacture and the store what he told you.

Physical damage on any electronic device is very hard to have serviced under warranty. I have never seen a plasma display crack on its own. But, anything can happen.

I once saw a man drop a newly bought plasma TV in a parking lot outside from where he bought it and the screen broke. He never even made it home from the store!

Maybe you should contact a lawyer or someone who can give you legal advice about how to proceed with this. In different countries and different states the consumer protection laws are different.

Plasma tv

this happens because of panel conditioning. as the panel ages it requires different voltages to produce the takes about 1000 hrs before it has conditioned. it is a simple adjustment a tech can do for you. when this adjustment is made no other adjustment will be needed for this problem.
