Question about DCS DRH-48N Patio Heater

DCS DRH-48 Natural Gas Built in Heater Won't Light

The heater is brand new but sat for 2 years and was just installed last weekend. When you turn it on the pilot glows red hot and cycles on and off, but the heater will not light. It seems like the its not getting gas, but it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have worked on two units and have had several problems with them. On a new install like you described, it may be that you have to purge the air out of the gas line. Do you smell natural gas at the unit? If not, then you can open the front control panel cover and unscrew the purge valve on the gas valve. This is assuming that you do hear the gas/air flowing when the unit is turned on.

If the units lights, then goes out, then there is a problem with the heater sensor portion. check to make sure the white wires are all connected inside.

If things still don't work, then the problem may be beyond this short answer.
Good Luck

My gas endless summer heater shuts the flame off abruptly after 5 minutes or so. why??

The first consumable part to fail on a gas patio heater is the thermcouple, these can last anywhere between 1 year to 6 years. When faulty it will cause the heater to shut off when turned on at pilot. Found this site very useful patio heater problem solving.

Frontgate patio heater, serial number 01A02 0023562, model number SRPH02, cust number SHCDPH, pilot light won't light (checked gas tank already)

First check that you are getting a spark, if not check lead and ignitor. If getting a spark make sure that there are no leaks, to do a gas leakage test see Patio heater problem solving. Next check the tilt switch if fitted, just short it out by joining up the two leads. If OK look for any debris/insects around the pilot and clean. A worn thermocouple will turn the gas off, these can last anywhere for 2 years up to 6 years but will at some point need replacing.

I have a mr heater 75000 with a 4 flash blink code. the heater is brand new, only worked for 3 days. i have bypassed the 2 switches but still cant clear the 4 flash blink code.

According to the Owners/Installation Manual, the 4 flash blink code indicates that the High Limit or Roll Out Switch is open. This may be caused by a venting problem or high altitude operation. make sure you have the proper pressure to the heater's regulator. For Natural Gas it must be a continuous 7 water column inches.

For further information, I have included a link to your Owners Manual that you can download and print, for future reference.

Hope this helped to solve your problem.

I had purchased this unit RMO-80LPT heater several years back, I never installed unitl this week. the sales en at the time told me it was gas/propane. Now seeing the -80LPT on the side is it propane...

The orifices for a propane heater are much smaller so you will not be able to get the natural gas to flow properly with the current orifices.

The both the natural gas and propane valve are 1/2 psi so the valve can be used but the regulator for propane is typically 8-11 inches on the wc table and the natural gas is typically 3 lbs on the wc.

You may be able to drill out the orifices in the burner and in the pilot ods and get the unit to work.

My heater will shuts off automatically

lp or natural gas sounds like moisture in the line look for a trap should look like a tee with a cap on it turn off gas and remove cap and see if any moisture in line replace cap and turn on gas check for leaks with soapy water and a small brush if not moisture it could also be air in line if so it will bleed itself out in a little while and work normally
