Oven Burners not lighting completely

When the oven is on I look below to check the burners. I see the left side burner completely lit. The right side burner has the ignitor glowing red and a small flame burning at the jet at the small square access hole in the tube, but no flames from the main burner. Any ideas?

How do I get to the orifice opening?

  • cfox59 Jan 02, 2009

Got it! Replaced the ignitors and poked and prodded every orafice I could find, and viola, back in business. Thanks for the help.

When I turn on the oven, the burners are not going on at full heat. The left one will start up strong but simmer down to a warm little glow in about 20 seconds. Then the right some times will kick up to a med force but the left will go out completely. They are never on together in a cold start. I have replaced the dual thermal gas ct-rl valve but the problem is still there. The oven takes hours to heat and can not hold a 350 temp. Is there any other controller I can get to to fix this poor oven

with a tooth pick if it is clogged,or a small wire. If it is already open then that is not the problem..

Have you tried cleaning the orface opening of that gas jet?

It's the igniters. They increase in resistance as the elements age and decreases the current required to heat the spring element in the gas valve.

Replace both igniters.

I just want to reiterate what lajjackson said about this LOW HEAT or VERY SLOW HEAT problem....it is the ignitors. They are on eBay for $30. each.... PB040001 or equivalent. An easy fix if you remove the two screws at the end of the gas tube which allows you to remove the two screws that hold the ignitor in place. THANKS to LAJJACKSON!!!

Is there any other problems I am missing. Marty

Main oven dont light there is no gas coming through

Check the main oven burner and look for a small thin bar that goes across the burner on the left or right hand side, push it down and across into its seating. its part of a sensing device for the gas flow

Occasional gas smell

If you have a burner lit and gas build up, strong smell etc., my advice would be to stop using the oven immediately! You no way gas should come out, build up, to the point you smell it, Especially while a burner is lit. Dangerous condition.

Viking range burners won't light

All of these ranges have a spark module at each burner sight and they all click when ever you attempt to light one burner. Therefore, it can not be assummed that the spark module for those nonworking burners are actually clicking. Remove the burner covers and actually look for the sparks. If there is no spark make sure the connections are nice and tight. IF they are, you most likely need to replace the spark module.

OVEN WON'T STAY LITE MOST OF TIME & DOESN'T HEAT WELL:

Most problems with gas ranges have to do with the flame—either it isn't quite right or it's nonexistent. Many new gas ranges have "electronic ignition," a spark igniter that starts the flame as gas flows through the burners f, when you turn on a burner, it fails to spark but you hear sparking at other burners, the igniter or the burner switch probably needs replacement by an appliance repairperson. If your range has a pilot light, be sure the pilot light is lit.

have nice time..!! arte the solution!!

Oven burner seems to have low flame

Check voltage to gas valve in the back of the boiler compartment. It is way in the back on the left hand side, turn on the top burners. If you do not get any volts or only 1 to 5 volts you will need to replace, It is supposed to have 24 volts to operate correctly

Top burners often wont light if oven is already lit

I have fix that problem before, the oven heat is soficating the top burners, you will have to adjust top burners with the oven on, so that they will light by them selfs.Or put a shield under the cook top section on the back, so that the heat will not come to the burners where they get the oxigen.

Dynasty range, oven does not heat up enough

30 inch oven has only one oven tube, 36 inch oven has 2 burners in it, most comment is the oven ignitor is out. If you have 2 burners, I'll change both oven ignitor at the same time, because they worked together. also check the oven tube, if it is corroded at the ignitor area, change the burners. Have fun.
