whenever my iriver h300 is turned on, i get this message 'check hdd connection' while the device is booting. although i had over 2000 songs and 400 folders, the device now shows 0000 (zeros) for both songs and folders. i guess they cant be accessed anymore. how do i get around this problem
Apparently most of the Mp3 players use a common garden variety Lap Top Hard Drive like a Toshiba etc. I have a Friend who replaced his in a Creative Zen. So Either take it a a reputable Laptop repair firm or simply pull the back off and check it out yourself. I haven't down this yet because I am still trying to Back up the contents of my H320 before it fails completely. When you pull the back off it should have a small hard drive just clipped into it using a wiring connection similar to a Laptop. Find the numbering and get a compatible replacement. The you may need to download a Firmware update as an exe file from IRiver and put this in the bas directory of the H320 and run it. THis sets up the necessary software. You may even be able to put in a larger hard drive 40 or 60 gb as they are all the same price depending on your budget. Let me know how it goes as I will be doing the same job shortly.
You have to hit the on button twice to show as connected, then you can manually move files to the root directory by going to the computer ICON on your desktop, finding your MP3 player, then clickto open the file - the find thefile you want to copy or move onto the MP3 and drag it into the MP3's main file NOT the file that says RECORD
