Question about GE JVM1660 Microwave Oven
Our GE Profile microwave has started to occasionally stop working after two or three seconds. Display goes blank and the lights on the bottom go out. Then in a couple of seconds the display comes back on. After several cycles of this it will work, sometimes accompanied by a crackling sound for a moment or two. What's wrong and how do I fix it?
GE had a rash of "underperforming" magnetrons on these units. They replace the magnetron, stirrer and high-voltage diode at no charge for parts as long as a GE-authorized service center does the work. Sometimes the unit gets run too long in a failing state and the waveguide and chassis of the oven get damaged.
