Issue the following commands (valid for SCO Unix Open server v5.xx or higher):
tape -a 3 setcomp - Turns On Hardware Data Compression.
tape -a 2 setcomp - Turns Off Hardware Data Compression.
tape -a 3 setcomp - Turns On Hardware Data Compression.
tape -a 2 setcomp - Turns Off Hardware Data Compression.
