Question about Mitel 9104-001-000 Power Supply SX-50 (9104001000) Power Supply

Need to add a prefix

I have a Mitel SX-50 at my Motel and each time they add a new toll free prefix my system does not recognize it as a FREE call from the room extensions. So when the room extension tries to dial the toll free number it gives them a busy signal before they even finish dialing. Is there a way to program the system to allow these new prefixes to be accessed from the room extensions?

First of all you must enter the program mode if you have your manual it will tell you how to do this. If not try this. press the # and on the screen should show command and a flashing number with a question mark. Enter the number 700 and press enter. this will get you in the prefixes. use the next key to scroll until you a a line with no numbers, it may take a little bit depending on how many prefixes are entered. Now then you use the arrow key to get past the first 3 digits that are flashing, enter the number 01 for non toll calls arrow over one more time enter the number to access an outside line commonly 9 then the prefix excatly how it is dialed eg.( 001 01 91800 05). Recap the 001 is what number in the list of approved prefixes. 01 is non toll call. 9 is the access number dialed form the room to get an outside line. 1800 is the first numbers dialed to call a number like 1800DIRECT. 05 is the number of digits dialed including 9. If you have any problems with this email me donnie_rawls2002 at yahoo.com. Hope this helps. I had to do this today at a local hotel and it was a bit confusing in finding the right commands and how to get there.

Why my mitel sx-50 shows message on console no communication?

The phone line between the SX-50 console and the main control is disconnected or the console may need to be rebooted (unplug the phone line then reconnect it). If this doesn't solve it then contact your PBX system support person.

Printer queue is full on sx-50 attendant console

This is explained in the SX-50 system maintainer's handbook, 2 copies of which came with your SX-50 when it was new. However, this is a pretty old piece of phone equipment (30+ yrs) and when these systems were originally set up by outside service companies, it was not unusual for them to take the manuals so that customers would not be tempted to tamper and would call the service co instead. However, all is not lost. There is a very good Mitel support group on Tek-Tips (www.tek-tips.com) On tek-tips the Mitel forum is under Home->Forums->Wiring Closet->Phone Systems->Mitel Networks Solutions Forum. You will need to register in order to post. Hope this helps.

What is the toll free number

A toll-free, Freecall, Freephone, 800, 0800 or 1-800 number is a special telephone number, in that the called party is charged the cost of the calls by the telephone carrier, instead of the calling party. A toll-free number is assigned from a specia dialing prefix range (also known as are code) such as 1-800 where all calls to those prefixes are free to the caller.

Our phone won't allow us to call 866 numbers. We have a mitel sx-50. Recently they added the toll free prefix of 866 and we can't dial it. When we try we keep getting a fast busy signal. I am in a 50 room...

It's in a table of allowed numbers. If you're familiar with the system, you ought to be able to find where 800 and 888 are allowed. Just add 877,866 and 855 as entries.

If ARS is implemented, you'll find your entry in the 700 table, maybe :-)
I don't envy you if that is the case.

Mitel SX-20: How to allow toll free dialing of 1-866 and 1-877 numbers. Currently system only allows 1-800 dialing. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe the SX20 can be set up for these additional numbers. The SX20 has been unsupported for over 20 years. Most vendors have stopped help on them. You really should get a new system.
