Question about Vodavi Starplus DHS 7312 Enhanced Phone

1 Answer

Answering incoming calls

All phones in the office except mine can answer an incoming call simply by lifting the receiver.
I have to push the incoming line.
How do I change that?

Thank you
Gail

Where do i find standby and how do i shut off answering system

Standby is simply when the phone is not doing anything. It's not on a call, it's not dialing out, and it's not ringing with an incoming call.

As for shutting off the answering system, what model Uniden answering system?

I purchased a panasonic digital cordless answering system. When I am talking on the phone and a call is coming in it does not go into my message box. the incoming call just continues to ring. I can hear...

You don't mean the "message box" on your answering system do you? You only get one conversation at a time. If you're talking to someone, how can the other conversation get to the mailbox?

Most people get central office based voice mail. Now they get a call waiting signal with caller id and if they ignore it, it's answered by the CO voice mail system.

I have philips landline phones. My main phone does not ring or flash when an incoming call comes in. I t won't go onto answer phone either it just rings out. I can pick it up and answer the call. i can...

Looks like the basic functions of the phone are correct. Remain the answering machine. Are you sure it can act as an answering machine?
If it can act as answering machine the reason it is not doing so may be the following.
  1. Answering function is turned OFF
  2. Answering function may be ON but the number of rings before it answers is set too high.
I suggest you try the following
Call you phone. Let it ring at least 10 times. If it can act as an answering machine it will pick up the phone and read the welcome message, because most answering machines (the recent ones at least) answer after 10 rings even if answering function is turned OFF.

The phones that can be answering machines usually do have a display that shows the number of incoming messages, or a LED that flashes to let you know that you have new recorded messages.

What do I buy to use 2line phone and separate fax?

You can buy a 2 line phone, but to use the fax/dsl line for voice, you will also need a line sharing device.

"The stick" is a good brand....

All it does is recognize if an incoming call is a fax or a voice call. If fax it would go to a fax port on the stick. If voice, it comes out the voice port which you can call on.

The same rules apply to this line....if something is using it, the next call will get busy......But now you could have the phone company "Hunt" your line 1 to line 2 (fax/dsl) if line 1 is busy.......hence...2 incoming lines....

Wont accept incoming calls

this happened to mine , I never had aproblem before than one day ??? didnt work . I changed phone jacks ?? dont know why ??
1. Try disconnecting all phones in the household except the phone being affected.
2. Do a test call to see if the unit rings.
3. If the phone rings at this time, begin reconnecting all the other units one at a time. If the affected phone does not ring again, this is an indication that there are too many phones in the loop.
4. If possible try testing the phone on a totally different phone jack (friends or neighbors) to check if the same thing happens.
Also make sure the phone is not connected through an external answering machine, caller ID box, fax machine, computer, splitter, or defective DSL filter. If so then connect the telephone cord directly to the telephone jack and make a test call.

Following are instructions for the GE25881 phone which is similar to your 25880. Hopefully this will work for you. -Vish Answering System Set Up This section shows you how to set up your answering system to receive incoming calls. Before you begin the setup, you must turn on the answering system. ? Press the conference/ans on/off button to turn the answering system on and off. NOTE: The display shows ANSWERER OFF when the answering system is off. The default status is on. Voice Instructions If you need additional assistance, press and hold the memo button on the base and follow the voice instructions. 12 Answering System Operation Recording the Outgoing Announcement For best results when recording, you should be about nine inches from the microphone, and eliminate as much background noise as possible. 1.
