Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 Webcam

I try to work it & I get a message saying, Initialising Failed ..

I installed it correcty, it's plugged in, I downloaded an update but it doesnt work. My computer is a Windows XP.

Normal 0 Did you install the software with the camera connected tothe computer? Disconnect the camera from the USB port and reinstall thesoftware. When the program asks you to connect the camera, do so, and itshould work. Hope this is of some help. Bud

Below is info for setting up Audio & Video to chat online after you install , either Skype or a messenger program.


Web Camera’s have to besetup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcaston messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order forthe Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see andtalk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it upas follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows LiveMessenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: You audio andvideo shoud work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly soyou can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

    Lost webcam driver


    Download driver off net from vendor

    You will need to install driver BEFORE you plug n webcam or will not work at all.
    Only plug it in when told to.

    LifeCam vx-1000 i got this webcam but doesnt work for me. i install it everthing went great then its says plug usb in then my sreen freez i dont know why anyone can help me plz


    Try using the an updated software driver.

    Logitech PRO 9000 installation failure


    Click off on the FOUND NEW HARDWARE and continue the installation.
    If you have further problems, let me know and I'll assist you to get it going.

    I HAVE WINDOWS XP, LABTEC CAM SAYS IT DOESNT SUPPORT THE OS???


    update your windows to SP2 so that the driver for your labtec will run. be sure that you are using a OEM xp when upating.

    Hi,
    Here's the GE Easycam driver software:

    Download it to your desktop. Unzip it to a folder. Plug the webcam in.
    The operating will detect it but not be able to install drivers for it.
    Now go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager.
    There will be an 'Unknown Device' with a yellow exclamation mark. This device is the webcam. Double click on it, and click the Driver tab. Now click Install Driver, and then the 'Browse Computer for Driver' type option, and navigate to the folder you unzipped it to, select it, install and reboot.
    Done!

    Webcam Plus... can't get it to work with IM


    Hi, 1. Verify your internet connection. If it is possible change your DNS IP Address. 2. Try Updating your yahoo messenger >> http://messenger.yahoo.com/download.php THE PROPER WAY ON INSTALLING USB DEVICES A. Enable usb ports on the BIOS. 1. Do not plug in your device right away. Install all drivers and software first! 2. Reboot 3. Plug the power or turn on your USB Device 4. Plug in the USB Port. 5. Windows Will detect the Device Automatically. Finish! Hope this helps
