I am using a new blade

What do you mean by "crown the pullies"

  • John Walpole Jan 02, 2009

Tracking is not a problem with the abrasive belt, but I cannot keep a blade on the machine long enough to check under power.I can however keep a blade on the saw by turning by hand in an anti clockwise direction, but by hand clockwise it comes off?

Instead of the face of the pullies being perfectly straight,a slight crown , meaning high in the center, will help the blade track to the center better. Most of the big band saws have crowned faces on the pully faces where the blade acually touches. The other option is to look for wear on the ajustment system or shaft(s) bearings.I am persuming no vibration while running.

Have you checked the saw guides to make sure that they are in alignment with the blade are not pushing the blade off?

  • Thomas F. Schneider Jan 03, 2009

Put the guides back on and by hand make sure that the back edge of the blade is just toughing the back guide support bearing enough to make the bearing rotate completely ,if it is a roller bearing.

Lightly touch or a few thousands gap if it had a solid bearing. You can ajust the gap with a piece of paper if you have not  feeler gages.

Blade keeps slipping off.cant be put back on without spending 15+ minutes and a cut hand. Is there an easy way

There should be an adjusting knob to tip the upper wheel back and forth till you get it right to keep the blade tracking. This is similar in function to a belt sander adjustment.

To put the blade back on release the tension and carefully thread it though , wind the wheels manually, and gently guide it back in place, then reapply the tension.

Burgess bbs20 band saw manual

I think your band saw is made and sold in England. Did you try posting on other forums. I suggest you visit this forum site . There are lots of members there who have the same bandsaw like yours. If you happen to be in US, I'd recommend you to check the blades of sawblade.com . Best blades I have are from them.

I need a toothed drive belt for Burgess BK 2 Also a thrust bearing for same.

I am quite certain that it would be hard to find parts of Burgess BK2 since the manufacturer discontinued the saw and not to mention, I think they're also busted. You try to check website that custom thrust bearings and drive belts.

Saw blade jumpes off at motor pulley on horizontal band saw

It is probably not tracking. you need to back off the guides, get the blade to track in the center of the tire by hand. Then torque it up a bit till it twangs, Then pull the guides up the blade and just touch it, don't push it at all, the bearings too. This should track and not jump off. If it does, then one of your wheels is out of whack, check them with a straight edge with the blade set. See if they are in line. One of the bearings could be bad. Check it out.

New blade will not stay on top belt

There should be adjustments for tracking the upper wheel. Turn the machine by hand until the tracking is perfect. Check the bearings in both wheels for looseness. Hope this helps!

HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE BLADE AND TIGHTEN IT UP THE BAND BLADE CAME OFF & I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET IT BACK ON

Unplug it. Open the cover(s). Find the tensioning knob - this is usually right on top, and it is raises the top wheel (or ins some cases an idler wheel) - thereby tightening the blade. Lower the top wheel by turning the tensioning knob a few turn counter-clockwise. This will give you enough slack to re-install the blade. Wear leather gloves and reinstall the blade. Tighten the tensioning knob a bit. Turn the wheel by hand a little to see that the blade tracks OK. Tighten it a bit more. The correct amount of tension pretty much has to be determined by trial and error. If the blade comes off, or bends too much while you try to cut, or cuts poorly, then it's too loose. If you over-tighten it you can break the blade or prematurely wear out your machine. Close the cover and plug it back in. You can adjust the tension with the cover closed, and you can even tighten it while the saw is running. But I wouldn't loosen it while the saw is running.

I have a Craftsman 10 inch band saw. The blade keeps coming off. I can't find my manual. How do I adjust the alignment on it?

the blade tension shaft in the rear top of the saw should also have a tracking adjustment knob that tilts the top wheel. Open the top guard and spin the top wheel by hand and adjust the tracking knob until the blade atays on. Better unplug the saw until you get this done, then you can power the saw back up and fine tune the tracking while running until it is perfect. hope this helps you.

Bandsaw blade keeps coming off Rexon BS 10

Unplug the saw and take the covers off the wheels. See if any of them show excessive end play or deflections when gently racking them from side to side. You may need to shim the wheels. Ideally, you want them all to track in the same plane, and you can check this with a straightedge.
There should be a tracking thumbscrew locked with a wing nut or some such on the back of the upper wheel. Put the blade on so it rides in the center of the tire, (move the guides out of the way if need be until you get the blade to track correctly), and turn the wheel by hand to see how the blade rides. That way you can make adjustments before it pops all the way off. By moving the bolt on the back of that upper wheel in or out you adjust the pitch of that wheel and change the way the blade tracks...
After you get the blade tracking smoothly under tension, you can move the guides back into position to support your blade during cuts.

My 16" Delta band saw blade is drifting how can I fix it?

The blade guides are not intended to prevent your blade from drifting they are there to ensure proper blade path while cutting forces are being applied. There is a tracking adjustment for the upper wheel. Unplug the saw. Start with light blade tension. Turn the upper wheel by hand while adjusting the tracking knob. When the tracking is close set proper blade tension and check tracking again. You can make fine adjustments to tracking with the machine running.
