Question about VisionTek RADEON 9250 128MB PCI Graphic Card

1 Answer

Video blacks out for a few seconds atleast once a day

I have a VisionTek RADEON 9250 PCI (128 MB) video card with dual monitors. I am running Windows XP Pro w/ SP3. Since I set up the video card, once or twice a day my screens go black for a few seconds, then return. Nothing else seems to be wrong and the card works fine except for this issue. I have installed the latest drivers for the card, disabled the Intel card that is on-board but still get the blackouts.
How can this isue be resolved?

If you are trying to use both the TV and your computer monitor as a dual display, restart with both displays plugged in and powered on. Check the settings of your TV to ensure that it is set to receive PC input.

Hi caeggleston,

"every time I try to run any PC game I have" Running the games before, do you encounter the same problem you posted. If not there's a problem, have you read the system requirements of the game your playing before installing, unless its a mini game like book of worm etc. but most game now a days requires a decent video card considering you're using a AGP video card. try to run 3D Mark 2003, 3D Mark 2006 or FurMark (for stability) if there's no problem with the card it should stand the stress test or just a simple test. If you see garbled image during testing, your video card have problems consider replacing them.

Hopefully this information helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

did you have an Nvidia video card in the computer before installing the ATI?
IF you did, then you may need to reinstall the Operating system in order to get the ATI card working, the Nvidia drivers and ATI drivers will conflict.

Monitor screen shuts off and on while in DVI mode

First, try updating the ATI drivers. The DVI connection transfers information about screen state back and forth (it's a full two-way connection). If there's some bug in how the SyncMaster and ATI card do this communication (which sounds like the problem) then hopefully the newer drivers will fix it. Otherwise try it out on a RGB cable.

I think you may be having problems with the video card...if it's still under warranty, I suggest an RMA from wherever you bought it.
