we are just experiencing the same exact problem at around the exact same time. our fridge is about the same age. we just tried a new filter and did't help.

i also notice that the filter DOES fill with water, so the problem must lie between that and the water dispenser.

we also had to replace our main board this past summer. when i push the water button i can hear it running. also, ice comes out the dispenser, but it appears fridge is not making any ice

I have the same problem, but I did diagnose it a bit further. I also replaced the main board this summer, but I don't think this has anything to do with it. The water tube runs into the door at the bottom of the refrigerator. There is a quick disconnect there. I can disconnect the hose and press the water activation lever and water will come out. What this tells me is that there is a blockage inside the door somewhere. I have tried to blow air through it using an air tank and got nowhere. I am trying to locate a diagram for the hose inside of the door...

I had a simular problem! I tried multiple things to make it work!

- bought new filter
- open back of the fridge... (dual outlet water valve)

Finally, I went to a different forum and found a unique idea.

First at the very bottom of the fridge theres a cover remove the cover and you should see the water hose running to the door from the back. In the middle of the hose there a coupler where the hose was spliced by the manufactuer. Now this valve once you separate it will not work correctly, unless you buy a new coupler (4$)... I'm el cheapo, I bought teflon tape for 50 cents (from previous project)... Wrapped around about half dozen times and made sure it wasnt leaking...

Secondly, when you disconnect the coupler no water should shoot out, until you press the water dispenser arm. If water shoots out of the hose on the bottom then you problem is really, really, really easy. You have simplely ice/ or another item blocking water hose to the actual dispenser.

I turned off the frezzer left the door open for an hour or so. I also used my wife's blow dryer on hot, and put it where the ice comes out of the ice maker. I would press the arm peridocially to see if the ice blockage melted yet. REMEMBER: door must be closed for pressure to push on the ice blockage. Thinking back, I might have been finished sooner... I was thinking the water dispenser would work with the door open.

If this doesnt work, then you have other problems... Bad water dispenser selonoid (you can hear this little motor turning even without water), dual water outlet valve maybe broken... Going outside my knowldege level at this point.... But i guess you computer board maybe going bad. Not sure if this computer has anything to do with water dispensing....

Hope this helps! My wife left me alone for about a day or two while she enjoyed the water dispenser...And she broke the vaccum.

Hi Alan,
You need to check the wires on the back of the dispenser console to be sure that they are seated correctly. If the wires are all OK, you will need to replace the display console. Here is the part to order.

The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.

GE Model GSH25JSRF SS is clicking non stop, the click comes from a small panel on the back right of the fridge. Started out that the water and ice dispenser didn't dispense. Then the clicking just came...

Is it still cooling? I had an issue where there was a clicking noise from the back panel and the fridge did not cool. Pulling off the panel the noise seemed to from a box on the circuit board. Turns out there was a problem with the controler board and after some research I found that the board was covered under a recall. GE ended up sending a guy out to replace the board at no charge. Pretty cool being that if was after the warranty had expired; but I guess it makes sence since there was a recall. Good luck.

RE: GE model #gsh25jsrf ss. The water does not dispense from door. Can I fix this? Thank you.

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

Icemaker/water dispenser not working.

Just had to defrost the water tank inside the fridge for a few minutes. Using a waterproof heating pad with extension cord did the trick. Even a fridge needs a warm blanket from time to time.

GE Refrigerator model #gss25sgress Water dispenser problem

What you describe was a common problem with this model and one that still pops up. Your refrig *might* qualify for an upgrade under terms of a program GE initiated a few years ago. Call 800-432-2737 first it might save you a service call
