Question about HP Pavilion TX1000Z 12.1" Touch Screen TABLET NOTEBOOK LAPTOP PC PC Notebook

Broken ts my HP txt1499us has a broken touch screen. The monitor works just fine but the glass behind the touch screen's plastic shield is broken, not allowing the TS to work. Is there a way to remove the plastic and the glass and just usee the laptop as a regular laptop vs using the TS?

Yes you can take the glass out but leave the plastic that protects the screen. but remember your touch screen wont work if the glass is not replaced which can be a bit expensive

Ummm, the glass is actually adhered to the screen border, and not a protectant but rather the conduit for the stylus pen (for your digitizer functions). The LCD+Glass combo is NOT sold as a separate item, unfortunately, you will need part# 441106-001 for the full assembly plastics and all. There is a less-expensive alternative, part# 441758-001 which is LCD only, but it's the BrightView display and NOT the digitizer-enabled screen. Should be half the price of the full assembly and much safer solution than removing thick shards of broken glass from ur laptop, also it nets the same result of what ur looking to do.

SOURCE: Broken touch screen glass

thanks for the help!..after using a screwdriver removing the 8 screws on my tx2500 screen (front) and carefully using a small knife swiss army knife along the edges to remove the glued on glass screen my laptop works like a normal one. take your time. its possible to "fix" by removing the touch screen portion of the display so long as the other part is not damaged. i dont know if i did it the best way but it worked and im happy!

K53e asus has dark screen how do i find and replace the backlight?

The CCFL lamp is located at the bottom of the LCD screen behind the plastic bezel in between the hinges.
You maybe able to get a CCFL lamp from this WEB site.

Broken lcd, how can we go about it.

Call HP to determine if the unit is still in-warranty, and they will be replacing it. Otherwise, you may have to upgrade it through their Out-of-Warrranty programs.

Have a hp pavilion tx2000 laptop. outer screen is cracked but display is fine. can i replace just the cracked part and still have touch screen?

hi.
yes, of course.
you can visit a service center of HP Company and ask for "Shield or Cover Screen". (they ask you the exact model of your laptop)
and they will give you a cover screen which should be installed by yourself.
it's easy and cheap.
need more? only ask!

Bug behind plastic screen cover and loose right side movement

Sadly the entire system needs to be taken apart. There is going to be at least 15 screws to remove and you need to move with surgical precision.

HP Pavilion dv9000z 17" Problem with monitor turning off

if you are clueless in this, better not to touch anything. The only thing you can do is reinstall the operative system, after backing up you files of course, so you will make sure the problem does not come from software. If the screen still failing you have to either repare it (which inplies disassembling) or replace it. In the first case i repeat, if you are clueless, better not to touch anything... and in the second case you should take it to an hp authorized technical service. It might be expensive but otherwise you could end up with a broken laptop.

Touch screen stopped working

Hi Everyone

I have the solution to the touch screen problem. You need to get the support and strip down document for yout touch screen from HP.. for instance the one for the tx1000 series is c00853874.pdf

you will need another machine or to print the pages required to strip your machine all the way down to removing the monitor, and the surround on the screen.

the document is step by step...label the screw etc, you'll be fine...even if you have never done it before.

the result is the terrible build quality of the machines. the ribbon access cables for the webcam, and for the touch screen are poorly installed.

I found that my touchs screen access cable was not actually properly installed at all, and was only barely contacting when i received the machine.

my touch screen is working properly, you need to be gently with everything, the circuit board that the webcam and the touch screen connect to is directly behind the screen..

you must strip the screen down, and then lift the glass... there are 4 screws around the edges of the glass when you have it stripped down... once you lift the screen up.. there is a circuit board on the rear of the top of the plastic screen back. the are connectors going into this...for the quick access buttons around the screen edges...the webcam,.. and the touchscreen.

i have to say i just discussed this with a guy called GINO on Hp online support...and he doesnt care that this is the solution...or that there has been a manufacturing fault since day on.. they never plugged the cables in properly.

email me if you get stuck...

James
