I preheat oven and i get an f2 err

F3 is the sensor, F2 is keypad failer. You have two choices. Replace the main controller List price $286. Its kinda easy, Unplug remove backplate and then unplug 2 wireharnesses and remove the controller, it held by two screw. Option 2. Pre heat with door open. Its wastefull in the summer but in the winter, 10 minutes may cost you less than $286 if you dont use your oven very much. Leaving the door open prevents the massive amount of heat that pours out the vent located just below your "over-heated" controller. After pre-heating the F2 usually doesn't appear during normal heating operation. I've done this over 20 times and main controller is the only way to get rid of f2 on whirlpool ranges

Error msg F2:E1

F2-E1 - Touch Pad (Keypad) Cable Unplugged -
Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

It appears your timer/clock has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.*&^%$#

WP Touchpad does not work.

The error code of F2 and E1 on your gas range is indicating a keypad failure or an Electronic Range Control (ERC) board failure. The ribbon connector on the keypad could be damaged or shorted. One of the buttons could be stuck or shorted on the keypad. There is a good possibility of a failed (ERC) board as well.
I recommend having a service technician come out and diagnose which part failed and repair your range.

there may be a good side and that is depending on age of machine they usually come with a 5 yr part warr on their electrical components, in which case youd only pay service and labor to install it
