You can replace the liner by removing the shroud tip, and pulling the spring (liner) from the machine end of the trifgger cable.
Liners are replaceable.

Wire feed is not stable on Hobart handler 135

is this a lower end machine ? the cheaper machines take the power from the welding transformer to power the feed motor and as a result the feed isn't stable, also is the wire liner and tip in good condition if not replace them, try blowing through the liner with compressed air to clear any dust from the wire

Hobart handler 135, the wire starts to feed for about 15 seconds then slows and stops.

Hi:
Don't know how old is your unit but my guess is that your gun's liner is the problem. Have you change it lately? If not, change it. Does your machine just stops feeding the wire or does it shuts down? If it just stop then; is the liner, if it shuts down; then you have a pc board problem.

Hobart handler 135 wire feeds for about a two feet then stops feed motor runs well under no load

This happens to me all the time. Wear and tear has taken its toll and everything has to be maintained for it to work. Most likely the welding tip is worn and should be replaced. Lincoln electric tips work well and I will replace mine several times during the day. Also check your tension and make sure the wire will uncoil freely from the spool. You can remove the tip and make sure the wire will feed without it. If not, your liner may be worn out. Also a welding Jell will help keep the tip from cloging. It will still happen, but hopefully not on your first weld of the day.

Sounds like the restate that controls the wire speed is gone. Replace it.

Hi I have a Hobart 135 Handler the problem is the feed motor only works for a few minutes of welding and then slows down or stops the goes slow again.

First there is a overload for the drive motor incase the welding wire gets jammed. I've had one of these for a number of years and only recently understood the markings on the drive wheels. When the wheel is installed, the markings for the wire size is for the wire you're using. In other words, the marking is towards you but is indicating the size for the rear groove. For years, I looked at the numbers and assumed that they were for the groove closest to the numbers. I had no problem with solid wire, but with flux core all kinds of trouble. So, make sure you have the right groove for the wire size. Second make sure there are no kinks in your hose. Make sure your contact tips in the gun are the right size for your wire and in good condition A person has e a tendacy to make ther drive wheels tighter when the feed slips, this can cause problems for the flux core wire if the correct drive wheel is not selected.

Wire burning betwen rool and feed drive

When you pull the trigger the entire spool of wire and anything metal that touches it becomes electrically hot. If the tail end of the spool is hanging loose and touches something on or connected to the chassis it will do that, and could have welded the connection so it's solid.

My hobart 135 will not feed wire. I checked for voltage at the drive motor no voltage. The gas still comes on when trigger is pulled but seems that the problem is in the control board?

does it have a reset button? if so it has gone bad, if not there is a fuse or something inside. they protect that circuit against shorting at the working end of the gun. happens ALL the time.

Hobart handler 140 will not feed wire

A schematic would certainly help, give Hobart a call and ask for a wiring diagram. or manual. Hobart are very helpful and may even give you guidance, you may have to pay the postage, they usually fax these documents so it will not cost you anything.
