GeoffMc - you just saved Christmas!

We had the exact problem, switched to controller #1 and it now works.

    thanks!

    Hi,

If your second mat is an Icon wireless brand, go to their website. They are confirming that the wireless mat will not work with the DD2 for Wii without an adapter, and provide instructions on how to get the adapter sent to you at no charge.

Nothing works on the DDR mat. It's a brand new one. I've already tried all the solutions posted regarding this problem. It seems I won't have the choice to return it.. or someone can help me?

  • Les the Red Jan 04, 2009

I have same problem... I am using controller 1..mat works for instructions but arrow keys don't work when dancing..the hand controller is also registered as number 1..is this correct or should the hand controller be different to the port number of the mat?

If hand controller used for dance steps..this is Ok

During opening game instructions a message relating to controllers appears but so fast that it cannot be read..isthis important?

just heard from people at Future Shop that i will have to order the mat online :\

  • gwilson440 Jan 20, 2009

I have the same problem. The DDR mat works for the setup and other functions but does not work for a dance itself. The remote and the numchuk work just fine.

  • Problem WII Jan 22, 2009

I have the same problem with a brand new wii mat which came with the Dance Revolution 2. The mat seems to work on the setup part where one is setting which mode to play in.

But then, when I go into the play/dance mode, the mat seems completely unresponsive.

Any other ideas of why this problem is arising and why the mat responds in the initial setup of the game but not when one actually tries to dance?

    Thanks!!!

Try making sure that the DDR mat is plugged into the FIRST controller jack (there are 4). That is the only way that it is associated with controller 1. If you plug it in any of the other controller jacks, you will be able to use the mat with instructions, configuration, etc., but not to dance. Hope this is your problem! -GeoffM

Had same problem. seems to us like the sensor bar has to communicate with the mat. We put the wii sensor bar on the floor facing the mat and it all started to work. We had the sensor originally on the table in front of the tv. the edge of the table was close to the mat so they didnt communicate. Dont know, but moving the sensor bar so the mat can communicate with it worked for us

Try selecting your selections using the mat arrows instead of the controller.  I took out the disc turned off the wii re-started it and put the disc back in..then did the selctions using the mat.  Not sure what worked - but something did!

GeoffMC was absolutely right!  I didn't get any life at all out of my mat until I plugged it into the first of the four jacks.  Now it works great.  Thanks GeoffMC!

I have a Pelican dance pad compatible with Gamecube/XBox/Playstation DDR games. Plugging into port 1 of the GC Port on my Wii, I can play DDR Hottest Party 1/2/3 with no problems in any mode, but it...

me too. i get this problem . i have a wii dance pad that has a gamecube connector , and i guess the DDR doesn't detect it as a dance pad , but as a gamecube controller . so think , you can't hold the nunchuck and the gamecube controller at the same time . so i guess we need a wireless dance pad for the nunchuck to work as well .

When it gets to the screen to choose the mode, the choices fly by way too fast to choose. This happens with other windows that require a choice.

Make sure nothing is on the DDR Controller arrows. Also make sure you haven't moved the control stick on the Nunchuck when starting the game. If you accidently move the control stick on the Nunchuck, press and hold A, B, +, and - buttons on the Wii remote simultaneously for 3 seconds.
If nothing is on the arrows, and you haven't moved the Nunchuck control stick and this problem still occurs, something might not be working properly.

It may sound silly, but make sure that you put batteries into the pad and that the pad is turned on.

Ddr in wii not working properly

You must have the DDR CD-Rom to play the game. Mats are sold separately without the disk to allow for multiplayer support. These units cannot be used by themselves without software.

Just got ddr 2, never had ddr 1. mat (NOT cordless) doesnt work in dance mode. can browse through instructions, the A and B work but nothing in dance mode. Can use the hand remote for the dance steps ok...

Hi. I just had this problem myself. I called support. You need to make sure that the mat is plugged into the round outlet on the wii with the one dot above it, or the player 1 terminal. Otherwise, the mat will be read as a player 2 mat and it won't work when the songs play.

PDP makes an adapter for their mats too. You can get one online at http://66.129.69.211/Registration/DancePadAdapterFulfillment.aspx

Wii DDR mats

I may be posting this a bit prematurely, but if you go to www.pdp.com, I believe you can get an adapter for the Wii for free. I know that the pad plugs directly into the Game Cube port, so I don't know what this will actually adapt until I install it (it's been about 10 days and I haven't got it yet).

Note: If you can't find where to get the adapter from the PDP website, go to your local Walmart, find the box, and there are stickers now on the box pointing to the website you need to go to. Note that there is a phone number, but it will do nothing other than tell you to go online.

Good luck to all. I would love to see a post confirming this Fixya.
