You need to check that you have put in the correct type of battery. Some cameras will only work with alkaline batteries.. I had this problem with my samsung when i inserted zinc batteries instead of alkaline, I use duracell cause they are pretty good for taking lots of shots before running out.

Camera shuts down when try to take picture

You can try using NIMh batteries instead of using of using the conventional. Most other cameras with similar problems have turned to function normally by using the above mentioned cameras.

When I click the button to take a picture the screen goes blank and doesn't come back on. Power light is still on.

Your shutter is stuck open. Remove the lens. Set to fireworks mode. May need to be in a dark room. When you press the shutter button tap the camera with an object that won't damage it. I used a rubber coated knife handle. Pull the battery and repeat. Tapping all around the camera. Hopefully it will break free. Then do some continuous shooting to loosen it up.

My camera lense won't go in. Everytime I switch it

Your batteries are too low.
When you switch on the camera, the lense go in. Then lense comes out fully. Then, if the batteries are low, lense goes in and camera turns off.
But if the batteries are too low, camera turns off before the lense retracts or even before the lense comes out fully.

HELP! I have the sony DSC S950, everytime I take a picture, the picture has this green, pink and blue horizontal line on it, and it is so lighty... pls. help me!

When shooting a subject with a strong light source, such as the sun, black lines or other noise may appear on the recorded image. This is called the smear phenomenon and is specific to the CCD of the camera; this is not a camera malfunction. To prevent this from occurring, do not shoot a subject with a strong light source directly.

If the issue persists with all shooting conditions, it may be an issue with the Camera.
Try initializing the Camera. To initialize the Camera, please use the Initialize option under the setup 1 Menu.
If the issue persists, perform a power reset of the Camera.

Performing a manual power reset

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the battery pack.
  3. Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
  4. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
  6. Reinsert the battery pack.
  7. Turn on the camera.
If the issue persist, service is required.

The date will not stay set. Every time we turn the camera on it opens with the date screen. We set the date and it then goes into shoot mode but the date is not set. All pictures are stamped with the...

to keep the date on, you have to leave the camera off with a charged battery for 24 hous to charge the inner battery that keeps date on. If this doesn´t solve the problem then is because the inner battery won´t charge anymore, but it will take pictures as normal without the date. To avoid this don´t leave the camera too long without use or with a worn battery.

Camera switches off when I press the shoot button

Are you using NiMH rechargable batteries? Digital caemras are real battery eaters and Nickel Metal Hydride batteries are the only ones that can stand up to the drain. Buy ones with the highest power rating yu can get. If this doesn't help, then the power board has started to fail and needs replacing.
