How do I clean the printer head for a HP deskjet 6540?

Isn't there somewhere to command the printer to clean the head or is the printer one that you have to buy some cleaner and do it manually?

Thanks for your help.

Have a look at the manual for this printer:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00251861.pdf

Section 8.5 and 8.6 describes very detailed how to clean the cartridges automatically and manually.
If you have, use latex gloves, so you don't have that mess of ink on your fingers.

Enjoy!

Hi

Manualy

If you're trying to clean your printhead, use a foam swab dipped in a solvent that will dissolve the ink you're working with. Regular desktop inkjet ink print heads can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. (Eco-solvent heads need to be cleaned with flush solution, and full-solvent heads need to be cleaned with cyclohexanone...but unless the printer you have cost more than a new car, you don't have to worry about those.)
You dip the swab in the cleaning solvent, scrape it against the side of the container until you get almost all of it out, then gently clean the head with a front-to-back motion. Put the cartridge back in the printer and run a cleaning cycle to reprime it.

Thank you

Please check your ink cartridge. If it is old change it. Also clean the nozzles. After doing this print the test page.

Click on this link to go to HP's site. From the list click on the operating system you are using. It will take you to the drivers download page. Select the one that is more convenient to you.
