when you say disk did you mean hard disk? if you do... did you recenlty install a new hard disks?... if you did... did you check the jumper-master-slave configuration when installing the new hard disk?
only one hard disk can be configured as master in each ide channel. set up to master (not single) the one on the end of the ide cable and set up to slave the one attached to the midlle of the ide cable.
check that both hard drives are properly attached to the cable and that the power cable is properly seated.
when you say disk did you mean cd rom disks or dvd disks?
does it work in other computers? if it doesnt.. you cd/dvd disks may be the problem
are you trying to read a dvd disk on a cd rom only drive... you can't read a dvd in a cd rom drive.
if you cd/dvd rom drive should read the disk you're putting in, check in device manager if your system detects the cd/dvd rom drive. if it doesn't: check the physical connections (reseat ide cable, check jumper configuration for slave and master on your cd/dvd rom drive and check that the power cable is properly seated), check also in device manager the properties of the cd/dvd rom drive and check if it says on device status if the device is working correctly. if it doesn't post the error code that it may give you or google a solution with error code.
suggestion.. be more specific when posting your questions.. that way it will be easier for a solution to be provided as your issue could be interpreted in different ways
first turn off your pc then you sec your cdrom power cable is plug in or data cableare properly conected to the mainboard ide socket if eaverything is parfectly then you power on your pc and sec cd rom eaject batton push it if tray open then you put your instollation disk and close it. if the cd rom not reading instollation disk then you seour that your cd rom pickup or lans is bad or damage. replace your cd rom or put your instollation disk other computer and copy your assential file in to a usb pen drive and transfer your pc.
hard drives dont read cd's
does the door close?
if not close it.
1)left clik my computer
2)double clik the cd rom drive, making sure theres a disk in it.
3)right clik on my computer
look for a yellow exclamation point or red X where the cd-rom is.
high light the cd-rom
restart the computer
windows will detect and re-install the cd-rom drive.
try a cd
if that doesnt work update windows
also buy a cd-rom cleaner at your local electronics store
clean the drive w/th cleaner
try a cd
if updating your driver for the cd rom drive and all ive suggested then its time for a new cdrom drive
