Hi, After plugging it in, the TV comes on for a second, then goes off. The red light blinks 1 second the is off for 2 seconds and repeats cycle.

Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair issue. You won't be
able to address the problem with troubleshooting. There is a part
inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty,
this will cost you nothing. If you're not under warranty the cost
will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned
that the cost could be considerably higher. You should call the
manufacturer for your full range of options.

14 times means the LCD panel is defective. I just had one of those tvs in my shop. Sony will take care of the panel replacement in warranty.

I had the same problem on my TV (had it for 2.5 years) tried to clean the bulb, but it still did the same thing. So i replaced the blub and the problem went away and the screen is brighter now. Sometimes it just about that time to replace the blub anyways.

Blinking of standby light is Sony TVs are fault indication. Five blinks denotes
the video. You must have some knoledge in electronics and ability to follow the schematic diagram of TV otherwise called as circuit. Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
