It depends on the answering machine. Some voicemail systems have specific codes you type on the keypad after you listen to a voicemail. An answering machine either has that capability or it doesn't support forwarding messages. You will have to find your owners manual with the original packaging, or online by googling the manufacturer, model number, and the words user manual.
There maybe different MWI options available in the phone's set up menu on the base unit. If so, see if the different options perform differently. Your phones are probably set to "FSK" (frequency shift keying) for MWI but IIRC, U-Verse uses the "Stutter" option. Also, in addition to talking to the installer, call ATT tech support. If the problem is in the signalling they may now have programming options on their end to resolve it.
Change the settings for the messaging on your phone, most cordless phones you have to go into the menu, find the menu option that has something to do with answering service, or messaging, then just branch through those options until you find the option that asks how many rings you want before the answering machine picks up. Turn this to the max amount available, or off(if available here). if that doesnt work, there should also be a option to turn it off all together.
Of course, if it is not in the phones handset menu options, there might be a switch on the base that has the option to change the number of rings before picking up.
p.s. you shouldnt post your phone number for public view online. with that alone it is possible to find your exact address, and tons of other things about you, from how many people live in your house, to your ss#.
Hopefully my reply helps you, I am a Cordless Phone expert, but don't know the settings on a random model without actually holding it. Good Luck with it though.
