Question about HP Photosmart 2610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Photosmart 2710 all-in-one will not scan

The device copies and faxes but will not scan. It says You need to nstall and run HP software for this feature. I have already installed the hardware from a disk that came with the all-in-one. What do I do now? I'm not running on vista, but on Windows X.

If the software is not instaled completly then you may have to install the software first, if the software for the All-In-One is completly installed then try the bellow steps.

My computer>C:windows>system32
Copy hpzipm12
minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
minimize this window.
Go back to My computer>C:\Drive>windows>system32
Copy hpzinw12
minimize this window

Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
Now you will see two new files in Startup
Now go to My Computer>C:\Drive Program Files>HP>Digital Imaging>bin>
Copy hpqtra08
close this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste
Restart the computer
Open Hp Solution Center> Settings>Scan settings and preferences> Scan to button>
check destination list> if available applications are not in the destination list then add them in the front panel destination
Tried to scan.

If this is from the front panel of the printer, the device is not recognizing that the front panel destination list is set up that can be done from the device software
if you are trying to scan from the pc and getting the message this is a communication issue and the easiest solution is to actually uninstall the software and re install

HP Photosmart 2710 stopped scanning


hi

first try to do the flee power cycle of the printer that means that to go ahead and unplugg all the cable and replugg it back after 30 sec and try to restart the computer ,,,check that wether it works or not

if not then

go to run and in run type in devmgmt.msc it will open the device manager of the computer.

then in device manager check for the USB PORT ...now under the usb port number check that it is being hooked on the right pannel ,,,,check for the setting and change to the desire option and the printer will definetly work

HP 2710 All in One Printer/Scanner/FAX and Vista



There are two models of printers starting with the number indicated. Both have Vista drivers and both have documented vista installation issues. Using the following link

The printer will not scann to the computer


Are you able to print? I suspect so. If not your probably looking at a bad cable or corrupt windows drivers.

The director software uses it's own system to talk to the printer via scan / fax though printing is controlled by windows itself. Since scan and fax are the same function to the printer, essentially i would start by re-installing the director software.

1. Remove it via add/remove programs, don't reinstall over. It may work but you'll likely just waste time, you want all it's files gone and replaced with new ones.

2. If that has no effect remove the printer from Control Panel > Printers. Also remove the scanner device from Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager >

3. Reboot, windows doesn't really remove things till you shut it off.

4. Install the director software again, hook up the printer when asked.

Again:

If you can print at all communciation with the device is perfectly fine from a hardware perspective.

If you can fax without the computer then your scanner and such is fine from a hardwware perspective.

So your problem is simple software, either windows devices install or hp director. Both simple to remove and re-input.
