I have a Photosmarat 2710, and my computer runs software Version X (not Vista). I can copy and print but not scan. When I try to scan it says I need to install or run HP software. The only software I got with the printer has already been installed.
If in case the software is completly installed then try the steps mentioned bellow.
My computer>C:windows>system32 Copy hpzipm12 minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste minimize this window.
Go back to My computer>C:>windows>system32 Copy hpzinw12 minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste Now you will see two new files in Startup
Now go to My Computer>C:Program Files>HP>Digital Imaging>bin> Copy hpqtra08 close this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste Restart the computer
Open Hp Solution Center> Settings>Scan settings and preferences> Scan to button> check destination list> if available applications are not in the destination list then add them in the front panel destination Tried to scan.

I have an HP Photosmart 2610 All-in-One printer, scanner, copier, fax. Recently, the device began giving paper jam and/or carriage jam messages. I was generally able to clear the messages and continue printing, but finally the ink cartridge carriage assembly jammed completely to the left of its field of travel, and it seems locked there. HP's troubleshooting suggestions don't cover this possibility -- they call it an internal failure and tried to upgrade me to a newer printer at a slight discount. This printer has been a very good unit and is in great condition so I'd rather fix it if possible. Does anyone have any idea how to "release" the ink cartridge carriage so I can again move it to the right -- to mid-span or all the way to its docking (resting) location on the left? Thanks for any ideas.
