Question about KitchenAid KGRA806PSS Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

KGRA806PSS00 stays in preheating

I have a 4-year old KitchenAid KGRA806PSS00. When I set the temperature, it stays in Lo and Preheating forever. The only way to get it out of this is to turn it off and try again. Usually, on the 2nd attempt it starts heating after 2-3 minutes. It typically does this about 50% of the time. The over has done this for a few years.

I do not believe it is the Thermostat, since I just replaced it due to the "Oven Cleaning Problem" blowing it. That has happened 4 times to me with this oven.

SOURCE: problem with oven preheating

Hi, I'm Neil
It is a fire hazard! Be Careful!
It's a gas regulator or thermostat
This time you will have to call the the manufacturer for service!
If it's under a year old ,your under warranty and it will not cost you anything!

Please give me a solution rating here!
Thank You

SOURCE: Oven not heating

On the bottom is a link of what your oven is. I'm pretty sure it's the ingnightor #16. You should see a glow red hot when you turn on the oven or broil. Very common problem and pretty reasonable price to repair. Unless that glows and get's red hot, it will not turn on the gas. I think that should do it. Let me know if you need anything else. SOURCE: The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

What does it mean when your Samsung flat top oven and broiler will not work and the code reads E-08

E08 Error Message on a Samsung Electric Built-in Oven:

The E08 preheating error code appears if the set oven temperature is not reached within 50 minutes. If this code appears, the reason might be due to overheated thermostats, a defective heater or a defective relay; in which case a repair will need to be arranged.
However, if food has been put into the oven during the preheating time that may cause the error code, since the presence of food cools the oven and so it doesn't reach the right temperature. The error message can be removed by turning the oven off and turning it on again.
To prevent this error code from happening again, the oven should not be used during the preheating period. The preheating period ends just after the sound signal and the icon in the display have turned off. When the oven gives the signal, it's close to the set temperature and your food can be put in.

Kitchenaid Superba Gas Range - Oven temperature problem

The problem is: the temp seems to be 'stuck' at 260 and will not allow any higher settings.

Calling KitchenAid proved to be unuseful. The manual did not have this item in the troubleshooting pages. Resetting the power does not help.

The SOLUTION:
There is really no problem besides that the temp display setting has been somehow set to be celsius (metric system) rather than farhenheit (english system). Changing this setting somehow can be easily touched off without knowing, thus the "I didn't do anything and yesterday it was working fine..." comment from family members.

The FIX:
Reset the temp display back to farhenheit (F). This is done by opening the oven door, then hold down the 'Broil' button until you hear a beep from the control panel. The same method may be used to change from Farhenheit back to Celsius.

Prevention:
I speculate the inavertent change of the temp setting is done while cleaning the flat control panel. So the best thing to do is to always 'LOCK' the control panel when cleaning the controls. This is done by holding down the keypad "3/lock" for a few seconds until the display shows LOCK.

(The solution was already posted when I arrived at this page. I just organized it a bit by adding some details and a preventative comment. Many thanks to those who posted earlier, solving my issue as well. I hope my writing presents a clearer and quicker read to the next person)
