Go to www.echo-usa.com/documentation.asp youll need your model number and you can get a breakdown of your machine which should help you to get it back together a little easier.

Have a echo 150 gas hedge trimmer motor runs blades don't move what could cause that

Inside the bottom panel, is where the grease etc is... you can take the cover off to make sure it's greased up inside, if it's running and the blades aren't moving when you throttle it, then they can be siezed , or the gear under the panel is off line or broke.

Ouch it does sound like your gears are gone. Take it apart, few screws, much cheaper to buy the replacement parts.

Trimming blades locked but motor still runs

The gear drive that operates the blades is defective. Contact your local parts supplier for parts prices or contact Searsdirect.com

Gears on my Mcculloch Chester 510 Hedgetrimmer may

The problem was with a stripped gear on a mcculloch hedge trimmer. I chucked it on the scrap heap and am borrowing my father-in-law's machine until I have time to shop for a new trimmer. Problem solved, but sadly not owing to your service this time.

You're going to take off like 20 screws including the ones that hold the handle and the hood at the base of the blade. You open it like a clamshell. There is a black plastic cover at the very bottom that covers the gear wheels (one tiny wheel that comes from the motor and a large wheel that actually moves both blades back and forth). The black plastic cover is no attached with screws. You just remove it so you can get to the gears. Now you oil and manipulate the large gear wheel until it comes loose and you can see the blades move back and forth. Put the whole thing back together and you are ready to go!
