Question about Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Windtunnel Hello: I was reading thru another readers problem of power to vacuum but won't turn on. Same problem for me. All hoses are free of clogs and I have the vacuum basically taken apart as far as I can. You state a THERMO by the motor may be open. What does this part look like? Thank you. Craig

I didn't check the switch. When I flip on the switch though, the motor will run for approx 2 seconds then I see a spark of sorts near the motor coils and it stops if that helps at all?:)

Our Windtunnel U6439-900 power switch was flakey and today just stopped turning the unit on. Does replacement require tearing the unit completely apart?

The thermo is a small square piece with two wires coming out of it. Did you check the switch? The switch has a high failure rate.

Sounds like you have a bad motor, it is arcing internally. It will have to be replaced, but may be better to buy new.

Check bag light on and bag fine. also seems like it is shooting stuff out of vent on top

Hi!, It's Jim with Crucial Vacuum,

Often times when your vacuums bag light remains on even after installing a new bag there is an air flow problem within your vacuum, or clog. This would explain why there is debris shooting out of your vacuums top vent.

Remove your vacuums bag and check to see if there are any clogs where the bag would attach normally. Clear out any noticeable debris.

While you're looking for clogs, check your vacuums hose, brush roll and filters. Stretch your vacuums hose out completely to unearth any debris. Manually spin your brush roll to help release any clogs, and wash your filters, but be sure to allow them to fully dry before re-installing them.

This should undo any clogs in your vacuum and cause your bag light to turn off.

Hoover windtunnel, wand does not pick up

Hi, it's Cindy from Crucial Vacuum.

It sounds like your vacuum wand is clogged. A great trick is to remove your wand as per your manual and run a coin through it. If it comes out properly, check the place it attaches, as it may have thick debris. If it does not come out the other end, clear the clog in the hose.

How do I switch the vacuum from floor to accessory suction

It automatically switches over when you disconnect the hose from the power nozzle. No suction it getting to the power nozzle, so the suction is only through the attachments. If there is no suction through the hose, check for clogs in the hose and in the tank where the hose plugs in. Also, check the screen at the bottom of the tank. If there is a clog in the hose or tank, then there also will be no suction to the power nozzle.
Remove all clogs and you should get suction.

Plugged hose on Hoover Windtunnel

you will have to remove the bottom cowling under the vaccum cleaner there are 4 phillips head screws one at each corner when you turn over the vaccum cleaner, take this off and remember how it goes back on. in the area where the hos is there will probably be a clog at that point. remove this and pull hose off and make sure it is not clogged farther up the hose, reinstall and check

It does not ****

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

It sounds like you have a clog in the vacuum cleaner somewhere. What you can do is remove the hose from the back of the vacuum cleaner and see if the changes the bag full indicator, and pay attention to the sound of the motor. If the motor starts making a high pitch sound as soon as your install the hose, this means that there is a clog somewhere in the hose.

If you can give me your model number, I can send you a parts schematic to your vacuum cleaner.

Thanks,

The vacuum has no suction at the floor. I have checked the hose, and no blockage. When I try to use the attachments, still no suction. What could be the problem.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel upright Vacuum
You definitely have a clod between the tube by the brushroll area and the attachment hose and the best way is to take a wire hanger and make a little hook on the end to see if there is a clog, the clog is closer to the fan area and anything big would clog up the area sideways and
-- you may have to remove the top cover to see if there is a clog and to better get @ it from the top. Another suggestion is to do a belt change whether you have one or 2 belts on the vacuum and to change the belts @ the same time every 4 to 6 months. Also, check you owner’s manual under trouble shooting to see if there is something else, other wise that is what I think is the problem. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

No suction

Check the hose for clog, take it off if you can, drop something thru it to see if it comes out the other side. Check the dirt inlet by the brush roll to see if it is clear or clogged. Filters could be bad also. Is the brush turning under load ok? If not then replace the belt, they stretch after a short time.

Do you have suction at the hose end, if you do then it may be clogged at the inlet by the brush roll. Is the filter cartridge clean? If it is clogged and air can't pass thru it, then you will have no or low suction. Might also check the belt to make sure it is turning.
