In the beginning I would plug/unplug until it would turn on. That worked for a while and then it started taking longer and longer. I tried the blow dryer trick and that worked a few times. And then I would just always leave it on. We just got back from a long weekend and I unplugged it before we left. Nothing is working to turn it on this time. We have removed the back and don't notice anything bulging. I took pictures of what both the main and power boards look like if there is some way to post them, I would love some advice.
I would lean towards a power supply problem but it could also be a faulty main board issue. You have to realize just because a capacitor isn't bulging doesn't mean it's good. The set needs to be serviced to identify the culprit.
Do you know where exactly I should heat with the blow dryer? There are 3 main boards in the back. One that the power cord plugs into, the board the tv cords plug into and then a board that runs down along the entire side of the board.
ok, the board that the power cord plugs to is the power supply. The board the TV cords plug into is the main board, the other board that runs down along the side of the TV is called an inverter. I would start with the power supply. Do you have access to a digital multimeter?

The power surges have probably blown the fuse in the power supply board. This may not be the only problem. If you are still under warranty, you will need to have it serviced at a service center. If not You will need to find a repair person or center to open the unit and test it for you. This television and all your electronic equipment should be protected with surge protectors. The reason is your power company has problem with power outages and this will damage your equipment. There is no built in self defense for this equipment due to the huge variants involved with power companies. You should call Insignia and ask them where you can find a authorized service center. You can call the Insignia customer support at this telephone number 1-877-467-4289. Tell them the model number of your television and the problem you have had with its failure to turn on.They will be able to help you find a service center to test and repair your television. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

SOURCE: LCD TV takes a long time to turn on
Its a common problem with many Samsung LCD TVs. We had the same problem on our Samsung TV. Based on some info on the net we called Samsung Support department ( 1-800-SAMSUNG). After describing the problem and mentioning that I have read on the net that its a common problem, representative asked for the model number and serial number of the TV ( I read them to her from a sticker on the side of TV). The Samsung Rep acknowledged that it was a common problem for my model and few other LCD models and they were fixing the problem without any charge to customer eve though TVwas out of warranty. She took the required info and gave me the ticket/transaction number and forwarded it to a local technician. Technician called next day and setup the appointment with us. Technician came within the 4 hr window that he had promised and changed the faulty capacitor on the power board and was done within 10 mins. Samsung rep had indicated that the technician will determine if the issue was with capacitor or not. If the issue was something else then tecnician will charge the regular service charge to fix the issue.
