If you have a Linksys router that is connected to your modem then you might want to do the following:

It could be that the Security Key is not correct. Make sure that the right security key is being used.

If you have already configured your router with the security key then to the following.

Open up an Internet Explorer Browswer page on a computer that is connected on the network already. Type in the address bar and hit enter.

A box should pop up and request that you log in. Place in your password that you had created. If you have never created a password then leave the username blank and type in the password box admin in lower case.

Click on the Wireless Tab
Click on the Sub tab under wireless then Wireless Security. In this window you will find the security key.. Write the correct key down not the passphrase.

Hope that helps.

The Linksys software doesn't seem to connect with the adapter. Windows recognizes the wireless connection. Link information shows "No association with access point." Site survey doesn't show any sites...

go here and check your configuration against this page at Linksys

It connects to a unsecured net gear but wont to my linksys g i have a 16 diget key could this be the problem thanks barry

If your wireless adapter connects fine to an unsecured access point, but will not connect to your secured access point, the problem is in the security layer. Either you are not feeding your adapter the right key, or your adapter doesn't support the encryption type your access point is demanding.

No association with access point

Another thing to check, (especially if you have installed SP2 in the midst of this process of trying to get the Linksys WPC54G drivers  installed).
In Device Manager, check under the "network adapters" category and see if there's any "other" things with a yellow question mark - I clicked one of those, had it search for the new driver, and after a few minutes it eventually installed a WPC54G driver and placed it in the "Network Adapters" category (I had already run the drivers install from Linksys, Broadcom, many times over - de-installing each time to try another version).
Funny thing about it, when I hit "update" or whatever on that yellow question mark icon - it had given me no clue whatsoever that it was a wireless adapter driver that it was updating.
Hope this helps.

Linksys wireless g notebook adapter

This is an issue that is commonly happeniong with this model, due to the fact that the main chipset was made from a diff manufacturer as compared to other linksys products. Here is what i would suggst you do:

1. Right click on my computer icon>select properties>Hardware>Device manager

2. The adaptor in question will def either turn up with a yellow question mark or a yellow circled black exclamation mark. Depending on the error code (erorr code 10 or 28, usually these 2 occur), double click the icon and select update driver.

3. When the computer asks if it should search for the necessary file (on win XP), click on the option whereby it allows you to install the driver youself.

4. Once that is done, if you have the driver (obtainable from on your PC, just point the tool to the .inf (there should be 3, including autoplay.inf, which you dont need for the driver installation) file in the folder and select both drivers.

5. restart computer.

It should be working fine now. Please do not hesistate to reach me for alternative solutions if this does not work out. Thanks.
