Question about Abit VT7 (MBABITVT7) Motherboard

Mobo doesn't recognize hdd

I have a Abit VT7 motherboard and I can't get it to recognize a Seagate 1.5TB HDD. Is there a fix for this?

Your board shows serial ATA compatibility, I'm pretty sure the Seagate 1.5TB HDD is a serial ATA II device. These are not backwards compatible. Sorry. Hope this helps.

on your board it will say cmos pin 1 and 2 are closed make sure that your computer is off then put the jumper on 2 and 3 turn it on then turn off computer then put the jumper back to pin 1 and2 then startup compter

How to reset bios


take out the battery ? (also make sure computer is unplugged.
Leave it like that for 10seconds plug in battery , plug in mains.

Hello i have a windows xp that are installed in an ide drive.but I am attempting to install a SATA samsung hd 250 G in a Abit VT7 A floppy disk came with the vt7 that had the drivers for the SATA...


XP can't be installed in SATA drives because it doesn't have a generic driver for them. Begin the install and during the procedure you will be asked to press F6 to install extra drivers - do just that with the driver that came on a floppy.

Doesn't recognize SATA hard drives. BIOS option


Need to install latest bios update go to there website also if you are trying to boot up with usb installed take it out. BIOS ID:15
  1. Fixed the issue where SATA HDD boot up will fail if USB storage device is installed.
  2. Fixed the issue where SATA HDD boot up will fail if "USB keyboard/mouse" setting as "BIOS" section.
  3. Enhance the compatibility of SATA device on WIN98SE/ME.
  4. BIOS compile date: 06/07/2004

Yes you need to load sata drivers just prior to the xp load screen prior to format.xp will prompt you to load drivers by pressing a key.RICHARDM69
