Dell AIO 924 - Can't get the Print In Black Only option to work

I have a Dell All-In_One 924 printer that I have used for a couple of years now. I am using on a Windows XP system. For some reason, I am not able to get the "print in Black ink only" command to show up in the printing preferences. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers and still nothing. Any suggestions. Use to work fine but nay have been related to a upgraded driver. Can't find the print in Black Only option.

Hello! Ttry this option. At start menu select control panel, then select printer, then right at your printer model, then select properties, and select maintenance. At maintenance menu, select ink settings. if you want to use black ink only then click the menu button. or at Printing Preferences select main, then just check the box with grayscale printing.  if the problem still the same Try upgrading your system to XP Pack2 Professional or Vista Premium/Ultimate, then install your printer driver. These two system has a built in upgraded plug and play drivers, so it best suit to your need. thats it... Have nice day!

Dell 924 printer won't work on vista OS


First, here is a link to the vista 32 bit drivers. Install these drivers if you have not installed them before.

Second, if you are using Vista 64 bit, Dell does not make a driver for the 64 bit O/S. You can re-install your Vista to 32 bit or buy a printer that is compatible with 64 bit O/S

Right cartridge incorrect and printer will not


I have the same issue where the printer displays "Right cartridge Incorrect". However, it's had no problems up until about two weeks ago and I've had the right cartridge in place for about a year or so.

Printer: AIO 922 (All-In-One 922)
Ink: Remanufactured ink

Low Ink Message


Try taking it out clean the contacts with a pencil eracer and reinstal . work a try.

Wrong ink color Dell 924 printer


run a nozzle clean, perform the following steps:
  1. Verify the All-In-One Printer 924 is powered on and connected to a computer.
  2. Verify that the paper support (input tray) has clean, plain white paper loaded.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Press the Down button until Mode: Maintenance appears on the LCD screen.
  5. Press the Menu button.
    The Dell 924 Maintenance Menu appears on the LCD screen.
  6. Press the Down button until Clean Cartridges appears on the LCD screen.
  7. Press the Start button.
    The AIO 924 prints the cleaning page. This process cleans the ink cartridges and resolves many print quality issues.

Wont print black


clean the contact on the printer and the ink cartridge. do not use paper towel. use coffee filter.

Problem with Dell ink jet refill....


Are you using the Dell software to replace the cartridge?
If you where just replacing without running the software then it wont know you have replaced the cartridge.

I had this problem. It's actually very easy to fix:

- Print -> Properties
- Go to "Advanced" tab
- "More options"
- Deselect "Use color cartridge for all black printing"
- Select "Use black cartridge to print black and white"
- Click "Ok"

You should be able to select the "Print in black and white" option now and stop all the frustration!
