Question about Computers & Internet
We have to Gateway ML5227b laptops. My sons was the first to stop working......at first it was as if the connections were loose, then finally gave up working. He used to swap batteries with my laptop and i'd charge his up while he used my battery, so I know its not the batteries. Then mine went, again like my sons, on and off at first as if the connections were loose then just stopped charging altogether.
I cant afford to take it to a shop to get fixed.
Sorry to say it, but the charging port in your laptop may be loose. The "loose" feeling that is often described is because one solder joint comes loose, so by moving it around it will reconnect. Unfortunately, doing this also causes the other joints to come loose, and they will eventually break off too. If (and ONLY if) you have experience soldering with electronics, you can open the case of the laptop, and attempt to resolder the port back onto the motherboard. Even if this does work, however, the solder that is generally available to consumers is a lot weaker than commercial grade solder, so the joint will be weaker than it was before.
The better solution would be to find somebody with experience with this, preferably a friend that won't charge you, or take it into a shop to get fixed. Make sure you get a price estimate, though, as this can be a fairly time consuming process.
