Random letters/correction tape

I put in a correction tape and ever since the typewriter types random letters. I have tried code & reset and I still can not get it to type properly. I read that I should hit code and press keyboard US but, I really do not see where I can get keyboard US. Thank you.

After typing a few words the typewriter starts to type all sorts of characters and symbols . If I reset it or turn it off, it will start out typing the correct letters for a few words again but then it...

Remove the printwheel and look for bent or broken spokes, look for debris in the P/W area, try it without the correction tape, if you have the wrong type tape or it is twisted there will be a problem.

Warning sound, didn't move

Check to be sure the correction tape isn't tangled in the print wheel. If it is or was check the wheel to be sure it isn't damaged,
Then try it without the correction tape.

Press the Code button and the Q/Reset button at the same time and the wheel will spin and go back to the correct place.

Wrong letters typing

it sounds like you were using a non-brother correction tape, one that was too sticky and consequently too "slow" and during the correction sequence the fingers of the daisy-wheel got entangled with the tape. Make sure that the correction tape is of a "non-sticky" nature and then take off the correction and printing tapes. That way you will see better how the daisy-wheel is fitted . I will assume that you have an instruction book to show how this is done. before fitting the daisy wheel examine the fingers to see that none are bent or crossed over each other. If this is the case it is better to buy another one. bring your typewriter to the shop if this is the case and they will possibly re-fit the wheel for you. good luck.....

Types wrong Characters

Does it always type the same wrong letter ie a always prints u or w ? if so the print wheel drive gear is out of position. if not and it get random letters some thing may be interfering with the wheel rotation.
