Question about Motorola MU21CV (1 Channel) 2-Way Radio
How is head unit disassembled to remove charger Jack. Are there any step by step diagrams available?
The schematics of this radio are not posted online anywhere to my knowledge. However, I can tell you how to remove the radio from the housing.
First, carefully remove the battery tray by slipping a screwdriver or car key into the slot at the bottom of the battery area. Gently pry up. This will remove the battery frame.
Then, either use a Motorola frame removal tool, or substitute 2 small screwdrivers. Slipping the device under the tabs in the side channels to release the little ears which hold the component board in the housing. (This are about 1/2 way up inside the radio, on both sides. You will see they slide in a channel or groove.)
Once you have gently moved the "ears" inward, you will be able to push on your small screwdrivers (or frame removal tool) and slide the component board out the top of the radio.
At this point you will have access to the accessory jack.
Sidenote: If you want to forego the above, you can simply send the radio in for a flat rate repair, which is approx. $69 at most servicers, during which time the accessory jack would be replaced.
