Hi my dvd rw/r drive gadjet is not working right. i have entered the disk of a game i wish to install and all i get is the sound of something moving back and forth from inside the drive which i...

First check if the drive is properly recognized and its name displayed in 'My Computer'.

The sound is actually of the head moving back and forth to read data. This is normal. Try cleaning the lens with a cotton bud or a lens cleaning CD. Usually when the drive gets old it stops reading discs due to the laser getting weak but can also happen with a new drive.

Try using know good discs. If warranty is available, avail it.

My computer works great but I have no sound

try to play any music theres a sample music under the music folder

if you are getting an error message that theres no sound device available then you have to reinstall the drivers for your sound card

if you are not getting any error message, check if its not in mute

if its unmute try to use a headset and try to play music

if you are using a speaker check if the cable is properly connected (normally its plugged in to green port at the back) and its turned on , make sure that the volume is set to middle.

if still not working while its plugged in the back try to plug a known good speaker in the front port

No sound driver available for windows 7

Try this. Here is how to Install them so they may work. Download your XP driver you wish to install. If it's in a zip/rar file then extract it to your desktop. You should have a simple .exe file sitting on your desktop to install the drivers, as normal for XP. Right click the .exe file and select "Properties". Then select the tab called "Compatibility" Now check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Make sure "Windows XP Service Pack 2" is highlighted. Now apply the settings and run the installer. This should work for most drivers, but not all

Sound distortion

Try updating the drivers for your sound card. Online tutorials available at ms http://support.microsoft.com/?LN=eng by searching your OS + update hardware drivers.
I'd also check at www.hp.com support for your notebook and see if there are any newer firmware releases for the sound installed on your system.

Distorted sound after installing software plus GigaPocket issues

Have you physically disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS? By doing this I think most of your other hardware/software would default to the only audio device (your SB).

Post back if you've already done this and I'll see what else I can dig up on your hardware and possible conflicts.

My speakers are not working. The computer came with Realtek speakers but not with the normal jack. I believe it is a USB jack which I plugged into two USB ports above where the jacks would go. I'm not sure...

Check if your computer has a sound card available
Check on the back of your computer
Power up you set of speakers, some speakers doesn;t work without power
Check the speakers connections (between them)
