Question about Toshiba 36AX61 36" TV

Open Question

Dark screen Our t.v screen is VERY dark.We live in Southern Wisconsin,so we also get Chicago stations. The Chicago stations are next to impossible to see. When it's a bright sceen(like, outside on a sunny day) it's okay, but if it's a night sceen,or a "dark" sceen, you can't see anything. We have the adjustments on all the brightest settings and it's still awful. The t.v. set is about5-6 years old.We don't know if it's something that can be fixed, and if it can,is it worth fixing,or would it be comparable to buying a new set?

This is nearly impossible to diagnose via the Web. It sounds like the logic board is at fault, but not necessarily.
